Don't forget to unplug an injector while your playing around to see a lean misfire and if you get one in with low compression get a trace on that too at around 2500 RPM. I take screen shots with the clip tool when I get a cool ignition waveform. What was really cool is if one is burning a lot of oil you can see the difference on secondary ignition in the final burn off.

Very expensive but essential tool. Reason why is: With so much electronics in cars, a lab scope may be the only way to diagnose them. And as cars become more electrical than mechanical, a good scope and the skills to use them will be a must. Thanks for the lesson frm.

Definitely takes time getting familiar with playing with all the settings on the scopes. I think that’s the biggest frustration for scope users and why they choose not to use it.

Great explanation/introduction to the Pico. Lots of good advice. Just one issue though Mike is you stated you used channel 2 (B) because it was the channel that is protected to 200v. All channels, A-D are protected the same on the 4425 Picoscope. Keep em coming. The more info out there for people to learn from the better.

It certainly takes some practice for proper setup to get a good waveform. Analyzing is an entire different game.

Great video. I have recently gotten two really good scopes, a Micsig ATO1104 and a Hantek 6254be automotive scope. I am trying to learn both now. The Hantek gives me the clarity of the Pico and the Micsig is a good grab and go scope. Your videos will help me become more proficient with both. Thanks.

All four channels on the 4425 are 200v. The only limitation between channels is that you can’t have no more than 30v differential from any one channel ground to another.

I will get into waveform analysis in future episodes, sometimes it can be as simple as comparing to a know good, or understanding the waveform itself

Do you have to use an attenuator on the Pico when you're only looking at coil primary? I thought the attenuator only had to be used when you're using like an inductive pickup device on the secondary side of house? Hate Snap On for zooming, ridiculous that we have to adjust time base for details. they beefed up the current scope, to 200 volts anything higher than that you should use one, that signal was spiking passed 200 volts on that coil, on the old model you needed an attenuator, for primary, with a back probe, like I showed in the video, injectors and secondary

I didn't get the scope, it doesn't come with it, it is an accessory, so I cannot say how good or bad it is, may get one for review, at some point. for the money you can get a Pico, a cheap laptop and the Autel and still be cheaper than a Zeus or Verus Edge, and have a better set up
