I was quite impressed by this product. I put it on my Ubuntu Linux box, and in about 5 minutes.. ( Using v 0.19 ) I had my first Laser Engraving done! Excellent work. My K40 was cheap.. but your software made it easy to work with. I had been using your F-Engrave product for what seems like decades .. didn't correlate the two till I went to your main page. Excellent job.. anything that keeps me off Windows is making my life easier. Thanks again.

Thanks for great work! Whisperer is only software I use with my K40 since early versions. I've added my own gcodes before, but now it is implemented. Great improvements with every new version!

I had 2 computers say they could not find inkscape. It worked fine on its own but it was not located where you would think in program files. I had used this for years but always installed from the Windows store. I uninstalled that and then installed the windows program version and all is good. Putting it out there if someone else has the problem. Just getting started and having fun. I thought I would be upgrading my board but I will use this for now since it works well. Thanks.

Newby to your site had to change from Corel Laser to Whisperer like this system better. I still use CorelDraw. This was very easy to watch and learn. Thanks

This software works great and I have found it works great with Rhinoceros CAD when you configure the layer color match k40w setting. One thing would be helpful if you could change pen on the GUI. Found a few times I had forgot to change color on a given vector. Other would be able to delete vector if something export ported that you didn't want.. Keep up the great work...

Hi, I have a problem that I can't solve, I recently bought a laser machine with Controler M2 nano, well I connected my Rotary but I can't get it to work properly, I use the K40 whisperer as a program to start the laser machine. I have tried several times but the Rotary doesn't work well. Can you kindly help me what kind of setting I need to do to make the rotary work well? Thanks, I'm in Italy.

Excellent video. I have a problem with my K40 that I haven't being able to solve. No matter what I do, the cutting starts at the middle of the cutting area. Can this information that you show here solve my problem?

I am not sure why you care what it cuts first. Are you trying to save the 1/2 second it taked to move the head to the 1st cut? Or is the whole dedign not where you want it?

Thanks for your reply. Apparently, I was not clear enough. My apologies for this. What I meant is that the machine should start cutting on the left top section of the balsa sheet I am trying to cut. The problem is that it starts to cut at the center of the sheet and if it continues to cut, it will continue to cut outside the sheet, as if the drawing was not properly located on Inkscape and K40 Whisperer. It is not a matter of saving 1/2 second. It is as you say, that the whole design is theoretically outside the sheet I am trying to cut. I hope I make myself clear, If not, I would like to send you a screen print of the problem. Thanks for your kindness. EDUARDO

I have a problem with the rotary settings. I have allowed the rotary use but when I turn the laser on it either doesn't find it (USB error) or it keeps spinning and doesn't stop (as if it's looking for the home point). So far I have not found any solution to this.

Pushing the gantry up to the y end stop switch will stop it from spinning.

love this it works great with my k40 - i have a question about DXF files as i design in auto cad - when i try to open it tells me it can't - the file has 7 layers - is this why it can't open it?

No, the layers should not prevent opening it. K40 Whisperer cannot open binary DXF files so make sure you are not writting binary DXF files from autocad

@@claytonstoltz1992 K40 Whisperer does not support DXF text or raster engraving from DXF files. A lot of programs havevthe option to export text as lines.

WOW. This is like having a new machine! One question. With Coral I was making plaques that used 2 raster images on two layers. I would engrave one layer on low power for a background, then engrave the second on higher power to be the main image. With K40 Whisperer I could probably do this using two files. Is there an easier way?

+Larry Nielsen Unfortunatly two files is probably the easiest way to do that with K40 Whisperer. More advanced features may come in the future.

Can I generate gcode with Vectric Aspire and load it directly into k40 whisperer? What would I need to do for that? I run a cnc machine on the same computer using mach3 and design in Aspire.

I just bought a new 60w high precise Chinese laser engraver on Ebay. It came with laserDraw/corel laser and corelDraw_x4. I was unable to install the corel Draw software as it was not compatible with windows 10. I was referred by the Ebay seller to your software as easy to use especially for a first time user. Does it improve if you reduce the speed? Your stepper motors may be missing steps.

I have this same problem and cannot figure out how to correct it. I am trying to cut a design out of a piece of acrylic and because it has many sharp edges I am doing several passes to make the cut but it keeps changing the starting position even if I push the "home" it still goes to a different spot.

You may have pointed K40 Whisperer to a "link" not the executable.

+Printin Addiction it uses Inkscape to create the raster engraving image. It runs the Inkscape exacutable like you can from a command line.

(Explain what you did and provide error messages or describe the programs response to your inputs. Saying it doesn't allow you to cut is too vague to be useful to anyone.)

Try moving the laser head a little to the right before you start your job. Your head might be hitting the hardstop one the left and missing steps in the middle of your design.

Something is causing the computer to loose connection with the laser. Some people say replacing the USB cable helps. I may be electrical noise in you setup somewhere.
