As someone who’s getting a Roy Focker version by Arcadia from yahoo Japan. This transformation video is extremely helpful. Thank you.

Thanks heaps for this video. I just bought this and given how fragile it is, I didn't want to break it in the course of figuring out how to transform it.

The Yamato v2 and current Arcadia releases are the least fragile of the Valkyrie toys not made by BanDai ( both the Hi-Metal (R) and DX lines are worth the prices because they are really rock solid in any mode ). Though the shoulder joints and arm transforming mechanisms (and more rarely the hips) are a known weak point for nearly all the Robotech / Macross toys, the v1 Yamato and early v2 planes were especially fragile. My later v2 VF-1J is the easiest to use and transform of all my toys, making the older toys seem... crude and dated.

11:32 I've never understood the need for intake covers during transformation. It seems like for atmospheric flight, the jet engines inside the legs would always need operational compressor fans, so the intakes should remain open for all modes. But during space flight, the Super FAST pack parts would provide the thrust, so the leg engines wouldn't need to work, and therefore the intake covers could be deployed for all Super modes. But I still don't really see a need for them to be used, even then. The only real benefit for intake covers I could see would be to keep out critters while parked on the tarmac in fighter mode. Otherwise, I like the look of the visible compressor fans in all modes. Also, I wonder if there's enough room inside the rear dorsal fuselage, or the back of the battroid, for a manufacturer to ever mold inner extensions for the wings to interconnect together in a sort of ratcheting joint, as with plastic models of the F-14 or F-111. This would make the wings both swing forward or backward at the same time, but the handler could manipulate just 1 wing at a time to accomplish it.

In the animation, those intake covers actually work like blinders. They pivot and let some air into the engine when needed. I imagine they are deployed/shut to not allow debris and undesired things into the engine. Sadly at this scale, and even at 1/48 would be very difficult to have those covers operate as they did in the animation.

Might one apply a little thickening agent to part of the backpack hinge to prevent the backpack from leaning out away from the back, thereby eliminating any need for the backpack clip? I don't like the idea of the backpack being under pressure both at the hinge and at the clip. Not sure if thickener would make the backpack even harder to get out of fighter mode though.

Anyone that has handled any of the older VF-1 toys would say not to add anything to the backpack joint• It is a known weak point in the design and has broken far too easily in the past. Best practice is to use however tight you can peg in the legs next to the backpack to help hold it stable. These Yamato and Arcadia toys do pretty alright compared to most at holding down the backpack, the 1/48 scale by Yamato and BanDai are better ( because the larger size allows more or stronger slots and pegs ).

Hi there are you goin to review the knock off macross scale 1/60 ? There’s a lot of it showing up on Facebook 😀
@ScorchedEarthToys6 жыл бұрын
Should I? I haven't been able to keep up with regular releases and the knock-offs I've seen have been pretty expensive. If you know of a place to grab one cheap though I'd certainly consider it.

yes the kos are still expensive thanks

Collectors tend not to like KO. But if you talking about the clones of the Arcadia VF-1 1/60 v2, these seem to be the same molds as the original toys, so they share the same pro/cons. The build, paint and decals are all very close the original, but the QC is slightly lower. The price is high for an unlicensed KO and this would be a big issue if the official version was still available. However Arcadia seems to be done with the line and any old stock is marked up a lot. If you are looking to get these toys at this point, the KO is a cost effective alternative.

Rob Bates, I'm a collector that *likes* getting the KO's for their... charms ( and the odd ways they cheap out or cut corners ). But you are right: the widely available VF-1 toys from China are much more "clones" than the usual "knock off". Helps that the 1/60 scale Yamato v 2.2 and Arcadia ( esp. Yamato v2 in general, with its wider than any range of mecha up till Macross Frontier ) toys are among the best ever released ( second only to the 1/48 Scale Valkyrie toys, arguably ). The oddest thing about the "Valkyrie Factory" KO 1/60 toys is the inclusion of so many paint apps and markings only available on Yamato / Arcadia "premium finish" toys... I keep wondering if the lower qc is just hiding the actual factory making these "off the books".

why this toys are so expensive?
@Gridseeker10 ай бұрын
1) very niche franchise 2) pretty complicated to design toys, i.e.not aimed to children, therefore the target customers are adults 3) released in few quantities and most of them for the Japanese market, so importing it's quite expensive.
