The plate you thought was Limoge, WAS Limoge. Limoge has a very interesting history which you should read up on. It's different than any other china. Basically Limoge made the blank pieces and they were decorated by other companies and artists, and some were actually painted as hobby pieces by wealthy Victorian women. The plate could easily have been worth quite a bit, or not much, but the Havilland pieces are definitely worth taking a shot on, since they were almost certainly part of a pattern. The hobby pieces generally are valued by the individual beauty of the pieces.

I gave my grandmother a mobile with hand carved/painted birds when I was in college (30 years ago, gasp). She passed, and I am still heartbroken! The mobile thread had dry rotted, so I just had the birds. Now, there is one of her birds in every floral arrangement in my home. I love them, and I smile everytime they catch my eye!

Here’s the thing about brass. I’m a brass lover. I love all the brass things! My Father in Law has over 300 hundred pieces. Resellers are buying it all right now, but are having a hard time selling it because they have to ask so much. Me, as a collector am not willing to spend 20 dollars on a piece unless it’s something really amazing. I know that everyone keeps telling you to buy the brass, but I really don’t think the average person is going to pay 20+ for a little brass figure. Just my thought. Don’t let people push you into picking it up. Go with your instinct, because it always leads you in the right direction.

I used to work with a gothy woman who used one every blesséd day to make sure her skin stayed pale. 10:14 Yay yay yay for someone who can help you decipher the signatures on all those Russian lacquer boxes! (And that is one killer of a cross-stitch piece.) 11:12 [expletive deleted]! That's an early Robert Montoya! He's a member of the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, part of the larger Tewa group. He used to be an architect, but since retirement is exclusively an artist. His tribal name, the one he signs his art with, means "Fog Mountain." 13:26 But if everybody had their rights, that would have been a Fabergé egg. It's a gorgeous candle, and I woulda bought it. 13:38 Painted by someone who was infected with Grandma Moses. 14:27 And right next to it was a set of milk-glass bowls that went with a Sunbeam Model 7 Mixmaster. Dates between 1941 and 1948. 16:00 Oh, d**n! That's 1930s all day long and twice on Tuesday.
