Thanks Ryan! Spot on review. I’ve been riding mine for about a year now too. You nailed it. I found if the top vent is always open you get much less fog regardless of the temp and humidity. If I ride with the top vent closed, I get fog quickly at low speeds, especially off road when the work gets harder. Really like the field of vision too. Huge lens allows you to look down when needed. Installed a Sena 50S. Went in super easy with no issues. Overall very satisfied! Thanks for all you and your team do!

Thank for the review brother, I would much rather listen to reviews by independent owners of the product like this, rather than some big box store. Excellent music BTW I love Scorpion Helmets, you get a great product good protection and great styles, not to mention Scorpion mastered the anti Fog problem and the Drop down Visor at such a great price.

Excellent detailed review. I’m still shopping around and doing research, but this helmet is currently at the top of my list.

Thanks for the review, I have more than one piece of gear you have recommended, and never had a complaint with them.

Looks like a great helmet. Wish someone would make a full/modular helmet that had awesome airflow for those of us who ride in hot climates.
@RyanUrlacher2 жыл бұрын
Yah, I ride often here in over 100 degrees. Helmets are just hot when in those temps I guess. Darn it!!
@ZildjianMan302 жыл бұрын
Probably best to use a good off-road style helmet then. They may not look "street," but when airflow is super important who cares. My 4-wheeler helmet never gets my head hot. I'll ride hard (off-road) in 100° summer weather and be dripping sweat, but I never felt the urge to hurry and get it off.

Bought one for my kid for his scooter riding. Tried it before giving it to him and it was a great helmet. I'm going to buy one for my self next summer.

Nice review, thanks. The EXO sure seems worthy of consideration for a sub-$300 modular helmet with all the bells n whistles!

Been riding with this hekmet 2.5 years now and its been great. I switched to the AGV K6 for fast street rides and obviously that is a lot better for that kind of riding, but its twice the price and specifically made for high speeds. I will keep my exo around for adv rides. I paid $300 for it at the time and I feel like for a modular helmet, the price point is very fair.

I also have this helmet. Its served me well and fits me well as I use 3XL. I put the tiny SENA microphone with the velcro right on the cheekpad with velcro and it works excellent and is out of the way.

Good review Ryan, appreciate. I had a Scorpion modular helmet that I bought back in 2017 or so and it was a decent helmet over all. Unfortunately after about two years the modular hinge wouldn't keep the face plate up and would slam down on me. I tried out a Schuberth but that it felt very tight on my noggin so it went back. I ended up with a Shoei Neotec II helmet that I love. Need to replace it in another 18 months so I guess. Damn things are costly though. Let us know if you end up with the hinge issue after a couple years! Missing central WA these days, TN is very hot and humid. I'll take that dry heat any day.

Love scorpion helmets but went with the Scorpion EXO-Tech Carbon. HAs a greater range of uses. It is a recognised flip over so it jives me the option of full face,open face as well as as full visor .

Looks cool without the visor too. I ordered one but it’s not here yet. Hopefully it’s cool. I always wear a dirt helmet on my drz and it’s crazy loud on the road.

I have a question about the sun visor. I am planning on getting a dual sport bike and wearing this helmet with the sun visor on all the time (highway, in town, and off-road riding) Does the sun visor get annoying on the freeway? Does it cause buffering, blow your head around, or anything?
@hydrohedinvictus8697 Жыл бұрын
yes the visor does but the visor is removable

I own one. It works. I bought if for the price and the functionality. I ride an adventure style bike. I left the peak visor on for the first year but this year because of mostly road riding I took it off and am riding that way for now. I do wear ear plugs because of the noise. I have never owned what would be considered an expensive helmet so I don't know what level of wind noise is normal.
@ZildjianMan302 жыл бұрын
Same here with the wind noise. I really want a modular helmet with all of the features of this Scorpion, and with great wind noise reduction. Wearing ear plugs all the time is annoying.

Love the AT-950 for street. Their smoked face shield is great for the AZ sun. It would be nice if they off a transition face shield. I use it day and night and it's not too bad at night. I'll be due for a new one soon.

This helmet has at least 90% of the features that I want! Great review. I have a couple of questions: 1) The DOT rating. Is this a case of the helmet protection sucks (DOT testing suck)? Or is this a case of the helmet actually having the same crash protection as a full-faced version, but as you said they can't rate it beyond DOT since it's modular? Example being that some helmet manufacturers offer a full-face and modular version of the same helmet. Or a slightly cheaper version with less features compared to that company's high end helmet. The protection is the same, but the cheaper version is only rated DOT because the company didn't pay ECE for testing. 2) Wind noise reduction. Like another commenter stated, I'm not familiar with what is a safe level of wind noise in a helmet. I always wear ear plugs, because I know the wind is loud, and whistles a bit, in my current $295 helmet. I would love a helmet where I don't need earplugs. Is this that helmet? I already have some hearing loss from 20 years in the Army. I don't want more!
@c.c.baxter33952 жыл бұрын
The Helmet has an ECE Rating in Europe where IT IS called ADX-1.

I realize the protection a full face helmet provides, but I refuse to use one. With hearing and vision limited and the way they look. Not for me !

The tinted drop down gets covered in dust because the vent air passes over it ...... very annoying !!!!!

Good point. Wouldn’t make too big of a difference for me though because I have to wear eyeglasses, so I always have a little glasses cleaning spray bottle and mini towel thing.

How good (or bad) is the peak at keeping out the sun? I am asking because I am hearing lots of chatter that it isn’t long enough to function well as a sunshade. Also how bad are the vibrations from the peak on long open highway stints?
@prominence2826 Жыл бұрын
I want to know about this too
@sotexdaddyo78172 жыл бұрын
FYI, DOT says helmet rating is based on it being worn in closed position. Even the tag says to keep helmet closed while riding. You should never wear the helmet with the face shield open while riding. Shame you even recommend this. You just made me reconsider any advice you give.
@trucker-d41612 жыл бұрын
Do you ever ride your bike with one hand, not recommended by bike manufacturer either🤷♂️
@prominence2826 Жыл бұрын
It won’t give you the same amount of protection compared to the front fully closed. However, you wouldn’t leave it open at high speeds due to wind. This means the only time you’d have it open would be at low speeds, and a low speed crash isn’t as bad. I know you can still get hurt at low speeds obviously. At the end of the day, just use your own common sense and judgement. 👍🏻

Good tip 👍🏻 I didn’t even think about that, but that’s probably because I never carry coins. However, you might just be able to borrow a coin from someone or a local shop.
