Just had my first ride wearing my new Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Juice, and I am impressed. My other helmet is a Shoei GT-Air 2. The Scorpion goes on easier, fits more snugly (even without using the air pump), is noticeably quieter. Every head is different, so everybodies mileage will vary, these are just my thoughts.

This really is hands down the best and most in depth helmet review I have ever watched. One critique please touch on road noise you briefly mentioned it with the neck roll but that is a very important deciding factor in this price bracket.

Glad you enjoyed our review! For the noise the decibel level hovers in the high 90s at around 70 Mph. Fairly close to models like the GT AIR II and RPHA 70, happy riding!

@@kostassamaras9263 When it comes to helmet noise, or lack thereof we've found feedback to vary greatly between riders. How loud or quiet a helmet is equal parts design, helmet type (modular, full face, etc), rider fit and the type of machine you find yourself on. Because of this we typically do not provide our opinion on noise unless the helmet is a true outlier. That is to say if we have consistent feedback from customers or our staff that a helmet is either exceptionally quiet or loud, we will happily share that with our audience. In our experience the variance between the majority of properly fitted helmets being ridden on identical machines is not statistically significant. If noise is a top priority and ear plugs are not an option we can recommend a few exceptionally quiet brands (Schuberth, Shoei and Arai). Yes, exceptionally quiet comes at a price. We also recommend finding a fit that is as snug as possible out of the box. Purchasing a helmet that is too roomy to start leads to sloppiness and extra noise after the break in period. Thanks for watching and hope this helps!

Kind of re-visiting this helmet again... a while back I tried on one and noticed that the visor locking mechanism had some faults. It did lock the visor, but while being locked I could move the visor around 5 millimeters. So I wasn't very impressed. Have you noticed any 'issue' with the ones you've handled? Also, how would you compare it to say Suomy SR-GP?

How would you compare this helmet to the Icon Airflite? I don't like mine anymore, it's worn and super loud. Do you know how this compares to that in terms of weight and noise?
@SpeedAddictsTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Joseph, Great question! The Scorpion EXO-R1 Air is going to be around a quarter pound lighter, which is significant for helmets. The EXO-R1 Air Carbon is even a little lighter still. Nice thing about the EXO-R1 Air is that you have the air fit system. Even after the helmet is worn in, you'll always be able to snug the helmet appropriately. While the Icon Airflite is a great street helmet, the EXO-R1 would be considered a higher performance track ready helmet. Noise is a very subjective topic and depends heavily on a proper, snug fit. Often riders will give you completely different feedback on the exact same helmet. So we'd refrain from comparing these two on that criteria.

How does r1 compare to x14 for street riding? Pros vs cons of each? Thanks
@SpeedAddictsTV2 жыл бұрын
Great question! The Shoei X-14 is a very high quality piece. It's always hard to beat Shoei when it comes to craftsmanship and over all finish. With that said the Scorpion EXO-R1 Air will have a significant advantage when it comes to weight as the X-14 is rather hefty. The same math holds true when it comes to the price tag. You can purchase two EXO-R1 for the price of one X-14. For most riders that prices difference is difficult to justify especially considering the X-14 is getting long in the tooth. Our advice? Most street riders will want to go with the EXO-R1. It's a Moto-GP ready, ultra high performance helmet that's very comfortable on the street at an extremely fair price. It someone has their heart set on Shoei maybe wait a year for the X-15 to come out OR save some cash and go with the RF-1400 if you're riding on the street.
@gwheat23642 жыл бұрын
@@SpeedAddictsTV absolutely great and honest advice. The x14 is def a statement piece for most street riding. I do like all the adjustability options w the liners. Scorpion does same w airfit. Your advice is spot on, I'm thinking r1 for now then getting x14 when updated model is released

@@SpeedAddictsTV I am definitely stuck between the R1 Air and the 1400 right now but the air bladder system and the competitive price is having me hard lean towards the Scorpion, also had the R420 save my life so already have a very good perception of the brand.
@SpeedAddictsTV2 жыл бұрын
@@shauns5278 The primary difference in our book is the weight. If weight is important to you (or lack there of) then we'd recommend the Scorpion R1 Air. The Shoei does have the edge in build quality. If the helmet is going to get heavy use the Shoei RF-1400 will pay dividends. Hope this helps!
@shauns52782 жыл бұрын
@@SpeedAddictsTV Thank you for the response the weight is the bigger factor. I am on a Street Triple so while noise is a big factor and plus for the Shoei I don't ride too much highway.
