The only reason I can think is that they are not officially retired. No other reason keeps them out. They are first ballot and no worries we will get them there when they hang up the skates...

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a travesty now, a waste. It's all about politics now. Jann Werner has complete control over who gets in and it's now just all about optics. Look at how long it took Judas Priest to get in, and it was more of a committee vote. Iron Maiden isn't in. Etc. I don't worry about the RnR Hof anymore...
