In the bible (Isaiah) refers to Lucifer as the morning star. So being in the land of the morning star could be interpreted as being in a land of pain, sin and suffering etc.

You are right on point. In the land of the morning star, could also refer to evil, Hell. So calling out for God to send an Angel is asking to save him or us. That he or we are in a dark place. But if you look inside and believe, there is always a way out.
