I love these old reviews. Back when the shelves were empty. Watching this one again. This bottle may be a 2019 purchase for me.

I purchased this bottle. I took your score and my idea of what I look for in a good scotch and decided that this was a good one for my bar. For me price wasn’t an issue. I simply want a smooth great tasting scotch. Balvenie always comes through in that regard, with the exception of the 14 year in Caribbean Cask. Not a fan.

Well.....what do you think about it? Is it good for your bar? Can't leave us hanging like that Donald, LOL! ~Mark

Scotch 4 Dummies actually it presented itself quite nicely. It’s definitely a different type of scotch but was good. It had your typical vanilla and wood notes but had some other notes that my new palette couldn’t make out. We enjoyed our first tasting and will try it again. As with all higher age statements, I’m gonna let this one breath for a while and revisit.

Pops got me a bottle for my bachelor party. At 4:30 in the morning around a fire at a campsite with some of my best friends, we finished the bottle (along with some Newcastles and Sam Smith's nut brown ales thrown in for good measure). I'm afraid I can't give a good review as I was outside if my mind drunk. Next Year will be 20 years for me and my wife. Thanks pops!

Wanna try a killer sherried 21 yo at a fair price guys? Seek out Glengoyne 21. I found it for $119. Drinking it right now. Oh so delicious!!

Consider this on our list! Sounds like a great first Glengoune for us!

Great review. I get Milk chocolate on the nose, and cordial cherry on the palate. Very good!!

I've had this before and it is right behind the Glenfiddich 21 for me. I would rate this an easy 3.4 and the Glenfiddich 21 a 3.5. With Glenrothes 1985 being the best scotch I've had. You paid $200 and that is the going price for me to. I don't understand how this is the same price I pay, but your other scotch reviews reflect much higher prices?

very enjoyable good review like the way you gave reasons and didn't give in to the others

The nose of a scotch will always smell better than what the palate tastes. Now there will be few exceptions, but I have yet come across them. I'm sure Cato can comment on the scotches that taste and smell the same. I just received the Laphroaig 18 & Talisker 18 today from TWE. My next purchase will be HP 21 & Glengoyne 21. Cato mentions the Glengoyne 21 is good and I've been eyeing that one for awhile. I have Glengoyne 15 and its ok. Anyways, just wanted to comment on the nose & palate.

I'm waiting for the cold winter days to come before I crack open my Islay scotch, with the exception of the Ardbeg Uigeadail. Although I do have 2 bottles of that one and I have sipped on one bottle during the occasional cool summer night.

Spring Bank? Any reviews? Oat single malt?

Balvenie & Glenfiddich are sibling distilleries, in my view. Balvenie is the more complex, the Fidd is a tad more accessible for a newbie. Good spirits!

I think we should probably revisit this one. It was an early review and I think it would score higher now. P.S. Every bar should have a TARDIS

I agree that it’s a two, you can tell it’s a good scotch when you drink it but not very interesting.
@toddcraw41275 жыл бұрын
You need to revisit this one. It's good but very subtle. You grade hard but a 3-3.5 for sure.

Well since I'm not able to get the 21 year old Balvenie and my area I live in the United States and Delaware I guess I will have to just stick to my 25-year old Glenlivet single malt scotch

i have heard that this is a sour scotch with a briny taste. Is that how it is supposed to be or was the person that I heard it from drinking a bottle that was a bad batch or something. I don't want to spend the kind of money this bottle is going for if it is going to be sour and briny and not very good. the review I saw on it said it was a peppery and sour taste that made it not very good and they said they would not recommend buying it at the price it costs. So I was just wondering what you think about it and if it is correct or if it is better than what I have heard.

Really glad I watched this video, my local liquor store has a bottle and I was wondering about it? Johnnie Blue or Glenmorganie signet for the same money? Great video!😀

The Balvenie Portwood 21 is an uncharacteristically imbalanced whisky. It is decent whisky, but the price makes it a pass for me.
@bijaykarki114 жыл бұрын
I have never heard of these guys take the name of the specific scotches when they say " there are scotches we have had for more than $200 and better than this one". common when you review let the viewers know what other scotches at this price range are better than this one on your opinion. just don't say we have had better than this one for the same price .

Is the whisky tawny port or ruby port finished
@Scotch4Dummies8 жыл бұрын
Balvenie doesn't specify in their literature specifically, but the barrels are 30 year old port casks. I would assume from the age they are tawny rather than ruby, which is bottled at 18 months. If you find any information, let us know. I enjoy both types, but the taste reminds me of tawny.
