Had the privilege to work as a tower crane operator for 4 years on that bridge. Incredible job with incredible people and I would like to dedicate this comment to John Cousin who tragically lost his life during construction. Gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace my friend. 🙏

As a local it is pretty quiet here all the time. I think the Forth Road Bridge is closed for maintenance in this visit, it sadly has been overworked and requires lots of TLC. You can walk across it in better weather or cycle. Even though I see it most days it is still a great moment to cross the Forth by train, crossing the bridge is a magnificent experience. More brave locals often abseil down the Forth Rail Bridge for charity.

When I was little I used to think the trains went over the top of the Forth Bridge like a roller coaster. I was very disappointed when I actually travelled over it for the first time! The best view is from South Queensferry on the Edinburgh side of the water :)

Crossing the Forth Bridge on a train is fantastic. When I was a kid my mum and dad would drive over the bridge to North Queensferry. We’d get fish and chips, have a walk and watch the trains go directly overhead.

May I recommend the next time you're in the north east, you take a visit to Beamish Museum. You may already be aware of it but it's a living museum that gives an insight into life in the region through the 19th and early 20th century. It has real operating trams that you can ride, a coal pit and many other real, functional features including an entire town with shops, a bank, a courthouse etc. I know you'd love it and it'd make an awesome video for this channel.

At least you still saw the bridges, they can disappear in foggy weather! There is also a Deep sea world in North Queenferry (nothing to do with the sealife brand). Glad you saw the lighthouse though! There is also a Forth Bridges Viewpoint on the other sider of the forth road bridge, were you can see all three bridges at once. There is also boat tours on the south Queensferry side too. Wonderful video.

There’s actually 2 other bridges a few miles inwards that also cross the Firth of Firth. The Kincardine Bridge and the Clackmannanshire Bridge. I drive over the Queensferry Crossing each day for work so I know it well. I used to use the Forth Road Bridge. It had serious structural faults and was closed for a few weeks in Dec 2015- Jan 2016. Caused complete traffic chaos as the new bridge wasn’t finished.

Thanks for the information!
@uksunshinekid9924 жыл бұрын
The Kincardine is the older bridge and looks more traditional compared to the new bridge that opened in 2008. The railway bridge is out of this world though 😃

I only live about 15 minutes away from these bridges I actually see them everyday on my way to school and you can actually see them from the top floor of my school they’re that big. I actually used to think the trains went up and down the bridge like a rollercoaster, it’s a great view from the train bridge. I’m actually one of a few hundred people to have ever walked on the Queensferry crossing, they done a special event before it opened that you could walk across it.

I can remember drinking in the pub back in the late 1970's. It was pretty run down then. It probably could become a tourist attraction but for some reason the tourist industry tends to overlook the bridges. They need more exposure from both Fife and Edinburgh councils tourist departments.

Great place been there many times myself. Being a rail enthusiast, I know that that bridge has a train going over it roughly every 3 mins. Also if you looked up onto the start of the bridge you would of seen a bit of the bridge out further. That was where the signal box was. Imagine the views that you could see from that! Great video if your ever in the North East of Scotland again let me know in advance I am happy to help or to show you some of the sneeky things I know about Aberdeen and surrounding. Most of it is rail knowlage but some is just Aberdeen things. Just let me know and I'm happy to try be available.
