Fantastic wee video, from my part of the world, great roads and scenery. Sorry for your loss, but you will always have the memories of this trip with your dad and he will always be with you in your head and your heart. Wise words at the end, life is not a rehearsal. Take care 👍

Great video, but so sad! You are so fortunate to have this memory with your dad. After learning of your dad's passing at the end of the video, I went back and rewatched looking at the smiles on his face. As a dad myself (same age as your dad) I can't think of a better way to spend my last days than with my sons on an adventure such as yours. You are a good son!

Wow! Didn't see that coming . I'm 50+ and a couple of years ago took my son into Europe as pillion. These are experiences that are difficult to compare because you share so much as adults that you might not experience as a parent and child would. Seeing and appreciating the sights, having a beer or a meal at the end of the day. Maybe one day we'll do a trip on two bikes like you did. Either way, these are ireplaceable memories that we might have missed had it not been for motorcycling . Priceless, as they say.
@DadDoesOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
There were a couple of years in my 20s where I didn’t have a bike for one reason or another. If I wanted to go on our annual pilgrimage to Le Mans I had to ride pillion with my dad. Didn’t do much for my street cred at the time. Head to toe in race leathers on the back of a GTR or RT1150. But I look back fondly now and found some of the pictures last week. Great memories.

So glad you both had this tour up here together . Editing the footage must have been difficult to say the least . Tioram has a special place in my heart as I’m sure it does for you now.. I go camping there and my son and I have toured a good bit in Scotland with him and will again ... You’re so right about making things happen because we never know what’s round the corner for us or our loved ones .. I will share your video with my boy ..not to upset him but to inspire him to get the riding britches on and come riding with his dad more ... he will soon be a father himself so in one or two years the three of us may ride together ... wouldn’t that be something .. From a Fathers perspective, riding alongside your son fills you with pride and brings so much joy as I’m sure it did for your dad. Thanks so much for sharing, very powerful stuff, your Dad would have loved this too.. Best wishes to you and yours .... If you ever want to tour a bit more up here when the loss of your dad is less raw ..feel free to PM me and I would genuinely feel honoured to ride with you or give you some tips to find more amazing places to ride to and through .. Be safe and well .ride free buddy ✌️😎🤘

Was half way thru commenting on what a super video of your Scotland trip, then, the end totally hit me. Thank you for the video and sharing your pain, and love of your dad. You really nailed it, there is no perfect moment, just live for the day, seize it. As another of my favourite biker vloggers on YT says, "Live your life". I only recently passed my test, Sept 2019, with all sorts of touring plans for 2020, then, the virus hit. Luckily, I did manage to do a 5 day tour of Scotland with a mate, the NC500 from Teesside and back on my VFR. Life is too short, too short to wait around waiting for the perfect moment. Get out there create your memories and hopefully leave this world a better person than when you came into it. My condolences, RIP in your Dad

Hi mate, what a great clip, I can relate to it in many ways, I'm a fellow biker, I've ridden much of Scotland back in Summer 2019. Lost my old dad back in 2017 to illness he was also a biker in his younger years. Only difference is that I never got around to taking my dad to Scotland which we were supposed to do. Brilliant pal, you've made a great memory with your dad.

Just tripped over your video, as you do on YT, and was thinking how fortunate you were to get away on the bikes with your Dad. My Dad passed away 15 years ago, after a long period of dementia, whilst still relatively young, or so it seemed. I was choking up when you told us the ending. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure you are grateful for that last memory. If you can ensure your children enjoy something similar with you...you get it. Ride safe.

Thanks. I forced myself to make the video so I didn’t just lose the clips. It turned out to be quite a cathartic experience but it took me a few goes to get through the ending as you can probably see. My grandfather had dementia for 20 years before he died, I know what a toll that takes. Be safe.
