If they played a modern 4-4-2, it would have been hard for Scotland or Brazil to beat Zaire. Zaire's yougoslavian coach was awful playing 4 strikers and just 2 midfielders.

Kazadi Mwamba, by that time the best goalkeeper in Africa. And coming to that World Cup, Zaïre was the holder of African Cup of Nations. Great players, unfortunately all of them non- professionals, just amateurs playing home. The difference was certainly there.

Ich war damals 13 Jahre und wohnte im Kreuzviertel, nicht unweit vom Westfalenstadion entfernt. Man ging die Lindemannstraße hoch, über eine kleine Brücke und auf der rechten Seite standen fünf kleine Kasssenhäuschen, aus Rotklinker. Sie hatten kleine Luken, und drinnen saßen ältere Herren, vor ihnen eine Rolle mit Eintrittskarten....Schülerkarte, 8 DM .schnell noch eine Bratwurst und schon war man bei einem Länderspiel, bei einer Fußballweltmeisterschaft ! Heute undenkbar. Welch eine schöne und unbekümmerte Zeit!!!
