@@pjmoseley243 The local legends I'm most interested in are the indigenous folk of these parts. Their stories are only just starting to see the light of day. As an Italian/Scottish/Irish descended person "my" history is very well documented. But I'd never heard of this MacPherson feller before. Anyways, if you are actually interested in the local history of "Bris Vegas" as we call it here - google "Dundalli" to understand some of wtf happened here during colonisation. Let's just say that despite arguments to the contrary, there was war. P.S. Dundalli was hanged on 5th January 1855 at the site of the current Brisbane General Post Office on Queen Street for his resistance to colonisation.

Catching up to your two most recent videos in reverse order. What a great story! Thank you for bringing it in your excellent style. It appears that McPherson turned to robbery due to his erstwhile employer’s exploitation of workers. In a later time he might have been a labor organizer or a civil rights leader. From the testimonials by those signing his clemency petition, it’s clear that he must, on balance, have been a good person. Is there any effort being made to locate and mark his grave?

John Mcherson is my great great grandfather. James father. John was born on my grand daughters his great great great granddaughters birthday. James George McPherson the third is my uncle. We have a photo of him on his horse. He served in Vietnam and a Sergeant in WW1. They have a festival every yr to remember James in Gin Gin annually. My uncle Tommy McPherson was also a cattle man and lived & travelled up the gulf. Was a proper cowboy for many many yrs. I myself have raised my sons in Mt Isa on the lake next to cattle stations not far from Burketown where my great uncle Rest in Peace. Travelling north towards Burketown are some of my favourite memories.
