IMO this is one of the most powerful, saddest songs ever especially in the context of the scene in Highlander where he stays the same age as his wife gets older and older. I couldn't sing it straight through.

@@oldRighty1 agreed, and I also find it equally powerful in the context of Freddy Mercury's life and being written while he was rapidly approach his own demise to what was - at the time - very mysterious and frightful disease called AIDS. (Still frightful today but less mysterious and far more treatable than it was then)

Powerful vocals on an iconic track which already had powerful vocals. You also have to think how Freddie must have known when he wrote it that he was going to die from Aids too, which brings even more emotion in to the track when he sung it; it wasn't just a song but his life. I think Freddie would have loved to hear your voice singing his song.

Love your comments but actually Brian Mays wrote it - A little fact most folks miss is he actually sings the entire first verse on the original recording (Watch the official video with the choir) - only on the Highlander soundtrack film mix does Freddie sing the first verse...

I think you have a point there, but that's what you get recording with a stage piano. On the album, they used a much smoother sounding piano and voilà, it's fantastic!
