Vince Russo turned Mike Awesome into That 70s Guy, I just can’t get over it

@@jonbourgoin182 Vince Russo? Is he the guy who turned Mike Awesome into that 70s guy?
@danman17896 ай бұрын
He defends that one to this day. He says he didn't watch ECW and didn't see anything in Mike. and ya know, Mike killing himself is really the icing on the cake of that story, that makes it tragic. Even though, I know, that was like a domestic quarrel

Vince Russo becoming WCW World Heavyweight Champion (did that really improve WCW ratings or bring credibility to the title? No! I don't think so), or Ed Ferrarra becoming WCW World Cruiserweight Champion (did that really improve WCW ratings or bring credibility to the title? No! I don't think so), & David Arquette becoming WCW World Heavyweight Champion (did that really improve WCW ratings? No! I don't think so) I rest my case.

@@jamesf791 Actually there is. JR has confirmed on his podcast that they were very hands-on with the talent and didn't like anyone else getting involved. Brian Gewirtz has also confirmed on one of the podcasts he did in recent years that Russo and Ferrara were the only ones writing TV. Jericho talked about Russo being his only friend when he got to the WWF. When Russo and Ferrara left for WCW, Gewirtz was told over the phone that they "had a situation where they had no writers" and thus he was offered a job. McMahon gave Russo/Ferrara more power than any other writers and due to the manner of how they suddenly left him high and dry, he restructured creative so that could never happen again.

@@jamesf791 Actually I said Russo/Ferrara but regardless, happy to. Here you go: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZmZcop8mZaloqM 5:19 Gewirtz confirms that him and Tommy Blacha both started around the same time after Russo/Ferrara left for WCW kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaGpYamYpMd5eK8 18:55 Gewirtz confirms WWF had literally no writers once Russo/Ferrara left for WCW kzbin.info/www/bejne/goayp2yfl92ffNE 1:50 Jim Ross begins talking about how Vince Russo "liked to be the only cook in the kitchen" and how Russo/Ferrara got into a groove of writing the TV So there you have it - three separate instances confirming that Russo/Ferrara were the only ones writing the TV during WWE's ratings peak. WWE's roster would go on to get even better, but the writing got worse and therefore the ratings declined in the 00's. You can have all of the top stars and claim that it's them who drew the ratings, but without the writing to make them entertaining it means nothing.
