Unmesh, you are truly a gem to this community; there are only a handful of Photoshop channels that are worth the time it takes to watch the video. Many of them can't relay the information properly, or don't explain the concepts behind a certain technique or effect clearly. As someone who found Photoshop intimidating when I started processing my own photos a couyple of years ago, finding and watching you explain many of these complex techniques and concepts in an easily understandable way opened up a whole new world for me. I've always loved being behind the camera, but now I enjoy making my photos even better and more spectacular-- thanks in large part to you demystifying it for me. I wish you many years of success, and I look forward to following you the entire way. Many blessings from California, USA 🙏🏽

According your question: 24:14 the DSLR cameras just are able to record until 29:59 secs it's due to they are called "Camera DSLR", if the time exceeds the 30 mins recording the camera isn't called DSLR it's called CAMCORDER... (it's according some photo/video regulations and marketing)
@aaz148a
@aaz148a 6 жыл бұрын
The reason for the 30 minutes time limit on DSLR is the existing higher taxation on video recorders. Higher than 30 minutes, it would qualify your high-end dslr as a video recorder.

I love this video. It's great to see two stars in front of the camera and sit down for an interesting chat. Btw, the 30-minute-limit is a money-wise decision. Under 30 minutes recording video, the device is not classified as 'video recorder.' On video recorders, a 5-12% customs duty applies.

One big advantage of Bridge over Lightroom is that (on Mac at least) it doesn't change the file creation date, only the modification date. Lightroom, on the other hand, does not restore the original file creation date when files are modified. This behaviour is inconsistent between the two apps, and stops me using Lightroom.

In your last question you ask why there is a limit for the 29m59s on DSLR/MILC cameras. The reason is indeed a tax thing for Europe. It differentiates videocameras from 'still' cameras. If your still camera would make longer takes then 29m59s it would be considered as a videocamera and taking it to a higher import tax level. Basically it would make still cameras that can do video a lot more expensive. I know it is a stupid reason, but truly the sole reason for this video limit on 'still' cameras that can do video.

I agree about large watermarks ruining images. I usually include a small watermark in an area that doesn't stand out. Not only does it say who I am, I include the Creative Commons license terms indicating how the image is allowed to be used by others.

LOL jumped the gun, Scott just explained the difference of Branding vs Watermarking making my question unnecessary LOL I'll leave the question in here though for reference :-) Watermarking vs Logo presence? I add my company logo in a non distracting area that does not ruin the photo. It can be easily cropped out or cloned out, but I do it because a few customers I send images upload them to Facebook or Instagram without adding credit and nobody knows who the photographer was, and I am not going to obligate them to do so, after all they are not a business using your photos. I do give them a DVD with high res images with printing license but I also include a folder named "Facebook Size" in the DVD with re-sampled versions with my logo for easy Social Media sharing and that way when they publish these photos even if they forget to give me credit, the photo itself will do so :-) Another question, why is it such an issue to add logos to photos, but not to videos? I have not seen a Adorama, B&H, Chopstick Guys, Tony & Chelea, Fstoppers, Jared Polin, Joe Edelman, , KelbyOne or PiXimperfect video without respective logos even though the actual Owner / Spokesperson is in the video making it obvious that the video pertains to that person / company? At least in a photo the image is usually of a person / place other than the actual photographer, and even though some claim that the photographers images reflect the work of the person that shot them, if you do a Google Image search of e.g. wedding photo, you are likely to guess less than 1% of the time the photographer that actually took the photo unless you view the description or guess what....see their logo LOL :-) BTW love you both and I have learned so much from Scott and Unmesh and obviously from all others mentioned here, even from the Nikon Guy Matt and Sony Gus Jason LOL

For an interview like this you might want to use a “real” video camera which is not limited to 30 minutes. Just a little inexpensive Sony Handicam will do nicely. The 30 minute limit has no technological explanation at all! It only has to do with EU tax legislation. If a camera can do more that 29:59 in one gulp, it will be taxed as a video camera. So to avoid that tax, camera manufacturers of DSLRs have built in this limit. There is also a file size limit: A camera is also taxed as a video camera if it can produce video files larger than 4gb - which is more like the 12 minutes you mentioned (depending on the resolution and the compression, of course). But the manufacturers have found a workaround: the cameras now keep recording past the 4gb, and at the end they just chop longer videos into 4gb chunks that you can easily merge in post. I live in the EU, and do I agree with these taxes? NO!
@benellias87

30minute limit is actually a tax thing... it defines photograph cameras from video cameras.. and they are taxed differently in many countries
