And mine. I first heard it in Disney's Fantasia, and it has haunted me ever since. Without wishing to take anything away from Jonathan & Tom's splendid performance, the beauty is in Schubert's writing. But The Scott Brothers have drawn it out for us and put it on display.

@@QHarefield Here are the original German lyrics as I used to know them as a child, not the Latin version used by the Catholic Church... __________________ Ave Maria! Ave Maria! Ave Maria! Reine Magd! Ave Maria! __________________

I've managed to reach the age of 64 (frighteningly double that of the wonderful composer when he died), without really bothering to listen to and appreciate the music that now fills my mind with tear-filled wonder. I'm so, so glad to have discovered Franz Schubert through being a fan of the Scott brothers. I have only (so far) listened to this beautiful piece and Jonathan playing the Allegro of Symphony number 5. Can anyone point me to another Schubert piece that you think I'd enjoy? Even if it's not performed by either of the Scott brothers - however that'd be a preference. Also a transcription to organ as I adore the sound of the huge cathedral-type pipe organ. Thank you - and thank you to this duo for for allowing me to discover Herr Schubert. He was taken from us far too soon and we can only wonder at what that brilliant mind would go on to compose had he lived to a ripe old age.

Schubert. - Ave’ Maria. - Organ & Piano. - Scott Brothers Duo. I have heard a lot of versions of this particular piece of wonderful music. This version, obviously reminds you of the religious background to this music. It would most certainly be recognised, as in the video, of a Monastery setting (for example) of a deeply religious order. The music is played by very talented musicians. This is, indeed, a marvellous piece of music which is interpreted in a completely different way to the versions I’ve listened too. I’m not convinced that this version is for me though.
