Their degree wasn't gonna make them rich as they are now... Its business and music that was gonna make them rich and well off and its proof 3 of them---they are still living it up 2day and their Families. They chose Music over Business and it was a good choice.

They were not very intelligent with the album they were promoting with this interview. Hot spaces was such bad direction musically that it threatened to end the band . This disco type album was about four years after that trend died

He didn’t really do it in the 70s, he was pretty straight laced and all about the music, he started drinking and smoking heavily as the 80s hit, probably to cope with the intense press interest that a band of that stature had to endure, Freddie was always quite a shy private person despite his on stage persona, he always used to look to Brian to take the lead in interviews

Interviews in the 80s were awkward for bands. It was as if the interviewer was never on their side and their job was to interrogate the artist. I’d like to have seen Freddie and the band being interviewed with the modern format, where the show is more about entertainment and fun.. they would’ve had a laugh and loosened up. Also 1982 the band weren’t getting on too well hence the 1983 year off. Thankfully they were back in 84 to take on the world again.

It's definitely a good album. I can understand how a ton of fans, plus Roger and Brian, were turned off by it because they were so used to the previous Queen sound(s), but Freddie COMPLETELY pulled off what he set out to do. His vocals on the album are spectacular and they very successfully created that signature 80s pop sound. Also, any album that has a fucking banger like the song Cool Cat is a top notch album in my book. If Cool Cat was that album's single and not Body Language, Hot Space wouldn't have fallen on deaf ears

@@lorrainecimino8508 ..I don't really understand what you write.... Each boy was very talented. The relationship they have working together is absolutely fantastic! However, remember! Without Freddie Mercury, Queen and the boys would not exist on their own. Freddie Mercury would have made a career on his own! Remember; All of Queen's music features the talent and hard work of Freddie Mercury. The lion's share of the idea and implementation belongs to Freddie. Band members and sound engineers working with the band recognize this. Mercury was an absolute genius. This is an indisputable fact.

Brian wrote Dancer. Roger wrote action this day. Pretty ironic that years later when Freddie is dead and John retired they diss the album and try to throw Freddie and John under the bus for the bad reaction the Album got. And Roger started the whole “queen plays funk/disco” thing in 1978 on the jazz album.

@@DavyMackNYC Brian and Roger were always vocal about not liking Hot Space. I remember an interview in a guitar/music magazine where the Brian said the album was tough because it wasn't where he was musically. I remember the interviewer asking Brian what he thought of Body Language. Brian replied "Oh that..." then went on to say that it was originally more guitar-ish but Fred wanted the song as it mostly was - nearly all synthesisers.
@AtomicExtremophile
@AtomicExtremophile Жыл бұрын
Becca, Body Language was an abomination, how they released that pile of puss as a single is beyond me. Look at the quality of every other single, so well chosen. Then we have Body Language, that sounds like someone coked out of their head or in a coma mixed it. I saw them at Milton Keynes, they played some Hot Space material, but thankfully they also played great stuff like Under Pressure and the old classic Somebody To Love.

I agree that Queen songs of the 70's were better than most of the 80's, but Queen's worst song is still much better than most songs of 70's, 80's or anytime. And Radio Gaga was one of their best songs. Maybe you don't like how it sounds, but if you don't like the lyrics you didn't understand them.

And the faxt they all FINISHED COLLEGE WAS AMAZING and a lesson to their fans and wanna bees about the importance of higher education. Deaky used his education to create an amp...then got a Phd at some point. So did Brian. I think Roger used his biology degree studying womens' bodyparts😍. Freddie used his art degree to create the bands crest etc. And Deaky used his smarts to handle the bands finances. As they are all so wealrhy...Deaky did well!!!! I wish he coukd have handled mine!

+Yummy Sounds : By all accounts, Roger was as wild a partier as Freddie and was usually right in his wake. Brian had his moments, he enjoyed himself, probably because of his emotional nature. He got in trouble a time or two but mostly kept it together. John…heh, the dude's full of surprises :) He has nothing to prove and very married of course, but he liked his tipple. He had a fully-stocked bar behind his amps onstage whenever they played. There's a shot in the Kashoggi's Ship video where he's at a table, drinking it up, getting crazy and then sliding to the floor while his wife looks on worriedly.

I agree with this, Prenter has influenced a lot pushing Freddie towards an experiment that he also wanted, but that seems to be blocked, not completely developed. Disagree. While my favorite Album is A Night at the Opera, my easy runner-ups are The Miracle and The Game, both of which are 80's albums. Also, Queen's best live gigs are in the 80's, Rock Montreal, Live Aid, Wembley. The 80's were more bumpy than the 70's, with Hot Space and their hefty breaks from performing with each other, but I still think overall, 80's Queen is almost as good (if not, as good) as 70's Queen.

When she says at the end well you've all got university degrees at the end , look at Freddie's face. I think he found that insulting ( he didn't have a degree as such) he always said the other three were scientists and he was the natural creative/ artistic one out of the four. But he was a perfectionist he had already achieved legendary status by this point he just had not realized it.

Everything about the band always says he had a degree (maybe they're using the wrong term) in graphic design....Brian is the only phd and that was more recently
