+Robert Perrigo I don't recall Chevy putting big blocks in there half ton trucks in the sixties. I recall two different straight sixes and the 283 being used in the half tons. I know GMC was using a 305 V6 quite a bit in there half tons. I am more of a Dodge man myself; so I may not be recalling things correctly. I do doubt that though; because I was a Master Technician for over twenty years. By the way I am not calling you a lier. I just think someone put that 396 in it and not the factory. I just checked Wikipedia and it says that a 396 was never installed in a half ton Chevy at the factory. Sorry to give you the bad news.
