inability of youtube's 2024 automated captions to decipher a lot of Scottish lines but getting the lift's lines 100% correct only makes the whole skit better. happy new 2025 year to you all folks, greetings from Ukraine! humour is an indispensable asset of humanity, especially in chaotic, dire, dark times. i salute to everyone who at least tried to make the people around them smile, i believe those who succeeded in doing so are our true heroes!

So you tried the english subtitles, too, huh? 😂 The irony, that even the YT subtitles generator did not understand the scottish accent, escaped me completely at first! (A very good point!) I also 100% agree with your oppinion about the importance of humor in dire times! It really helps. Some 20+ years ago, I severely broke my lower leg, and it had to be fixed by an emergency surgery during the night. When I arrived in my hospital room around the following midday, I chatted a bit with my two room mates. Naturally, we talked about what brought us there, who we are, etc. During this conversation, I very often fell asleep mid sentence, because I was still full of anaesthetics and also lacked sleep. I asked for apologies for doing so. In Germany, we say: "It's no broken leg!", if someone apologizes for a minor thing that can easily be forgiven. And that's exactly what one of my room mates said. Followed by: "Oops! I'm sorry. Indeed it is!". 😂 After all this time, I still have to smile thinking about this. Edit I almost forgot to say: Hang in there! I hope Putin will not win this horrible war, and that Ukraine will be able to stand their ground! And I wish peace will come for all of you, very soon! 💙💛

Same all over the UK. I've an RP ("received pronounciation") accent. My phone hates me. I think it hates my voice and thinks I'm a posh twat. But I am what I am and wouldn't judge anyone else for being who they are. I speak into my phone (can't type due to disability), "I shall be home within the hour", and it types, "I shall be in a boat now". 🙄 The local bookshop's lift has a Spanish accent. Vowels are just suggestions across the world. A place to insert whatever sound you want, and call it English. If you didn’t use them, you’d sound crazy, but you’d sound more similar. The problem is they modify the consonants, so you have to keep them in the spelling in order to tell which version of the consonant you want. Which seems like nonsense, but is highly expressive ordinarily. Th/t w/ld l/k l/k/ th/s /r s/mth/ng s/m/l/r t/ /t. But you’d have to learn all the funny letters pronunciation.
