Funny video! Since I´m from Germany I´m glad to understand the english language AT ALL! :D I generally like how languages change when going to other english or also german speaking countries (Austria, Switzerland). Even within the same country like e.g. Germany there are some really odd dialects. The north e.g. is completely different from the south. While the eastern dialect just causes ear bleeding (sorry, Ossis!). There is a common standard German which everyone understands (but not everyone speaks). If you went to a village somewhere in Bavaria you wouldn´t understand a single word when they talk to each other! :D However, greetings from Germany to the States, to Scotland and England!

How funny...in Texas we usually say the days of the week as follows: Mondee, Tuesdee, Wendsdee, etc. My dad also says ol (rhymes with troll) for oil. Also, breakfast is the morning meal, supper is lunch, and dinner is the last meal of the day. I say breakfast (morning), lunch (afternoon), and supper (evening meal). In Texas we call all sodas "cokes", and my friends from up north call sodas ''pop." I've also noticed that elderly folks down here call shrimp, srimps...completely leaving out the "h" in the word. I work in the restaurant business, so I hear all kinds of things like that. I find it interesting and sometimes annoying. My least favorite elderly saying has to be the following: instead of asking to order from the lunch menu, they will ask to order from the "luncheon" menu. Drives me nuts! One more annoying thing, and then I'll stop my rant. I've noticed that African Americans say "axe" instead of "ask." For example, many will say, "Can I axe you a question?" Where in the world does that come from? Oh well, it's funny to think about. No big deal. Texans are notorious for using the term "ain't" and "y'all", it's just part of our vernacular I guess. It is so interesting for me to speak with people from all over the country and listen to the different dialects and slang terms. These differences are just some of the reasons why I love my country! After all, America is a melting pot of people...right?
@CalumOH11 жыл бұрын
I hate how Americans say Scootland like "Scott" "Land" When us Glaswegians (From Glasgow) say Scotland like it is supposed to. Say it fast and don't take 2 seconds to say the word when I say Scotland it takes about half a second.
