There are 50 bridges from the air force base in Trenton to the morgue in Toronto. Every one of them is packed! We love and respect our troops. It is the highway 401, but between Trenton, Ontario and Toronto, only that one section is named the "Highway of Heroes"

I hate it when Canada is relegated to an afterthought when discussing conflicts such as WW11. Both Britain and the United States are guilty of that. It is reprehensible when our Forces are not given the credit they deserve. Most post War movies in the US and Britain extolled the work of their soldiers but Canada- not so much.

It's the 401 in Ontario and it isn't missed on me, my dad(foster dad) served in the second with the Royal Canadian Regiment. Without him i wouldn't have surprised the foster system, because the foster parent didn't believe in sparing the rod. I could receive upto 30 lashes, even if she knew someone else did the deed. There isn't a day i don't think about our Canadian vets. You could say i was raised by those WWII vets, because a lot lived in my hometown and not just Canadian vets but US vets from WWII and Korea.

I've lived in Edmonton, and I have lived where this footage was taken. In Edmonton I have stood for my men at -45 and where this footage was taken (its quite a bit more humid) I have stood at -35. Much better conditions then our men have faced so I'm happy to have waved our flag. Eyes right.

I suggest that you check out the information on You Tube about a member of the the Canadian Highland Regiment who was shot dead while guarding the National War Memorial in Ottawa.Nathan Cirillo He was given a state funeral. Also the Parliament Sergeant of Arms, who killed the shooter when he attacked the Canadian Parliament immediately following the murder of Nathan. His name is Kevin Vickers.

This is a beautiful and noble thing. RIP to all our allied heroes to our north. A TV movie was done in 2009 starring Kevin Bacon called Taking Chance. It was based on actual events. I strongly suggest you watch it. It covers the escorting of a fallen hero from the time his remains arrive in the US until they reach their final resting place in his home town, about a 2,000 mile journey. The reaction of fellow citizens along the way is awesome

I don't think that video shows much though. This is my favourite Highway of Heroes video. It was taken as the hearse for Corporal Nathan Cirillo was going home. H was the soldier shot down by a terrorist while standing guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa in 2014. @5:59 'American respect'? What do you mean, 'AMerican'? This is all about Canada and it sons and daughters. As for 'near Ontario', 8CFB is in Trenton, and Toronto is in Ontario, separated by a hundred miles of the 401, also called the Trans-Canada Highway, but especially, that section also named the Highway of Heroes. And -20C? Nothing special. -30C is common, even down by the lake. The reason they make the journey from Trenton to Toronto is because the Provincial Coroner's office is located there. Think of the same kind of thing here in UK with the cortege from RAF Brize Norton, through Royal Wootton Bassett, to Oxford. but with the entire route lined by respectful people.

Any person in the free world that doesn’t support there troops is just evil to me. No matter your feelings of if your country should be in the war. You could at least be thankful that someone other than you are risking there life for your freedom so you don’t have to. As an American I totally support our troops, and support or brothers in Canada as well as our European brothers that continue to make the world that we take for granted a safer place. Imagine if you don’t support your troops because of your feelings about a war or occupation of a country.
