Many years ago as a youngster I used to go feathering for mackerel from the landing stage under the old Palace Pier in Brighton...I mostly used an old sawn-off Tank Aerial rod...needed it too...you could only cast underarm from a shortish rod down there, and when the mackerel came in you could often pick up a full house of seven or eight... Drive through the town of arrochar towards the log cabins before it you’ll see a turn off with concrete barriers and wood it’s at the bottom of that it’s the old Mod pier

it is when using feathers in macrel season you can get up to 4 or 6 at a time

its a good fish off the pier for mackrel the caves are better if you like pollock and codd

just as you pass through the town you pass a car park where the woods are head straigh along to where you see the bollards its between the town and log cabbins its the first left coming from the town its the old torpedo base you cant miss the bollards once you leave the town on the left

i was using day time feathers not bait there lethal when the big scholes are in any feathers work well for mackerel even shrimp feathers there cod aswell for pollock
