But when bloodflame blade is applied to your weapon, for some reason it gives the fires deadly sin a bleed effect. and if you dont know, status ailment buildup can be applied even through rolls because of fromsofts netcode. So all you do is aplly both bloodflame and FDS and then just run at your enemy and theyll just continuously have bleed built up on them with really no counter (except law of regression which removes all buffs and debuffs from the field)

Yeaaaah...they work, unfortunately. Are in the game because they have been added from the developers (not referring to exploits that have been patched, thankfully) and have yet to be addressed. The game is 3 months old and has already gone through...4 (and a half) patches? You would think that there was some kind of multiplayer testing for balance during development, right but...yeah. The game's PVP does not really need IGN's help to die as it is killing itself just fine and From Software isn't really helping much in that regard. At a bare minimum we should have some feedback and...well there is none.

I think sleep does scale with arcane, but only with 1 weapon, it's the albinauric spear that scales exclusively with arcane and can be buffed by resins, but I'm not entirely sure

Varre's bouquet weapon is also buffable and has innate arcane scaling

This is kind of random for a comment you either won't see or will feel attacked by, but if you were unaware, KZbin lets you use space/k to pause a video, and you can use the right and left arrow keys to go forward or backwards 5 seconds at a time. The first time you tried to replay a segment, you accidentally clicked the bar to navigate to a certain time of the video, rather than selecting the pause button. You can also click anywhere on the video screen to pause. I had a flashback to watching teachers slowly navigating their mouse all the way to the bottom left of the screen to pause a video.

Sleep does scale if you do it with a sleep grease on one of the Ripple weapons (blade or halberd) as they scale with an S in arcane and accept greases. I know that's like, completely pointless of a correction as its literally only two weapons in the entire game, but it's an important distinction to not spread misinformation about.

Anything with occult infusion can't receive sleep grease, and all other arcane scaling weapons are somber (which means they can't receive sleep grease.) So basically, the former. Sleep scales with arcane, but only when applied to the ripple blades, for a slightly confusing reason.

To be fair the Fextra wiki says the Lusat's staff "Enhances power of all sorceries" because that's literally word for word what the flavor text for the item in game says I don't know where he pulled the 10% number from but it's understandable for being confused there as even the game seems to want you to think it buffs sorceries beyond it's high scaling

The wiki page used to have a percentage until a ton of people proved it wrong. In the meantime there were dozens of youtube videos parroting some percentage (some said 8%, some said 10%). There was a fun period when the game came out where Digger staff supposedly boosted every single sorcery with "stone" in the name, according to Fextra. Check the edit history for a good laugh. Wikis are nice because mostly anyone can edit them, but wikis suck because mostly anyone can edit them. Anyway, my guess is IGN guy just internalized some early misinformation and didn't give it a second thought.

Admittedly the Lusat staff description explicitly states: Enhances power of all sorceries, but consumes additional FP. Considering that all the other staffs have like a 15% buff to a specific school you wouldn't assume that this description refers to the higher incant scaling. Soreseal just isn't as strong anymore mostly because of the high level the game expects you to reach. Honestly the ign guide is almost entirely accurate and it is unsurprising that they will showcase some of the most busted builds. I'd actually recommend it if I can't be bothered to explain all the details with the small addendum to try out every weapon and don't just stick to the ones that are repeatedly mentioned here.

Not the worst guide I've seen, promoting 60 VIG is better than much of reddit can provide. Telling players to use Soreseals and the Dragoncrest talisman is pretty iffy though, especially at level 200+. That could have been done away with through just a bit of research/testing. I would say it basically reduces your I frames with fat rolling. According to the data doc I was referring too, fat rolling has 12 I frames while mid has 13. But mid has 8 frames of recovery while fat has 16. That means during a roll you are going to have a worse percentage of the movement being I-frames with Fat roll. So med roll Is 62% I-frames while Fat is 43% of it's roll I-frames.

I think sleep does scale with arcane, but only if you put soporific grease on one of the ripple weapons, since they have passive arcane scaling and can be buffed. I think that's the only time it's possible for sleep to scale with arcane though

Sleep scaling is rarer (not a lot of ways to get Sleep and Arcane scaling together), but it's possible via Sleep Pots and when you apply Soporific Grease on Ripple weapons and Varre's Bouquet (the only weapons that have Arcane scaling and can be buffed). Madness scaling is possible with Fingerprint Stone Shield (Poison/Bleed/Occult infused, but Occult has a visual bug rn) and Madness spells with Dragon Communion Seal.

Honestly sore seal can be abused at 120 as well safely. It’s to me just a new age gouge method. Some weapons and play styles can absolutely guarantee a boiled crab/prawn use. Which means your not going to see a negative at all from using a sore seal. If the sore seal is going to allow you to do more damage then you take like in a quality build (quality builds do massive damage with unique weapons easy one hits) or a gouge build then it becomes more viable. If your sure your won’t get hit as much I.E confident in your supposed skill then sore seals are very strong. Tho through testing I feel like scar seals just aren’t worth the trouble ever. Sore seals tho can be mitigated and abused.

"abused" "Supposed skill" There are already a plethora of potential 1 shots, that don't require increasing your's opponent pool of potential 1-shots as well. Why abuse your own defense when something like Unsheathe does it for you. And the logic of "just don't get hit" is silly. If you're so confident in your supposed skill...take less vigor, or deal less damage, or dont eat crabs, or heck, even close your eyes. Why do anything statistical to give yourself an advantage if you have your "supposed skill". Maybe you wouldn't need to eat crab to fix (and fail) the terrible defenses if you instead took off soreseals and just ate a damage buff, since not all buffs stack with crab anyway. Regardless, what build/weapon are you even using for Quality in Elden Ring. Its statistically terrible scaling (for 120 level) but is there something at least fun I'm not thinking about?

@@effive7817 test out the dragon halberd. It’s does ridiculously high damage with a quality build at 120 and the weapon art easily hits 1800+ damage with no buffs. It’s not “just don’t get hit” it’s I myself don’t get hit, so if I’m not getting hit then what does it matter. And every example you used is a statistic downside, where as you may take more damage with the sore seal but the 20 free levels can be used else where. Like in a quality build where it’s essentially 10-20 free levels depending on where you intend to cap str and dex. Too much ignorance in this community surrounding the meta. The ring is literally just a Uber gouge method. Maybe your to new to the community to know what gouge builds are, if that’s the case then it’s regardless but most people just hear from someone else the sore seals are bad or crabs aren’t reliable and just preach that stubbornly. Play the game yourself and test shit you’ll find a lot of cool shit

One boosted sorceries, the other boosted cast speed. Edit: it IS weird though that they didn't just put that in the passive abilities section, but then again none of the other passives do anything else besides boost your damage, letalone increasing the cost of something

I really love this game and I understand why people are mad at this video. Ignoring the straight up wrong info and exploit promotion, all he's doing is recommending people the best weapons. It's up to From to do something about these things in pvp, not IGN. Also I see nothing wrong with the DS3 copies or the people trying knock the game for being DS3.5, sounds like a compliment to me.

It's not anywhere near as bad as you're making it out to be. This is a beginner guide for people who know nothing about PVP and build optimization. For players like that this video is fine. Most of the other stuff you're complaining about them not having is intermediate to advanced info that should have their own separate videos. I would actually even argue that soft/hardcaps, breakpoints and how scaling works aren't even that important for most people because they aren't gonna be looking for meta duels capped at 120-150. And just to be petty they actually DID mention some basic tactics like using Swarm of Flies while running at opponent to throw them off and using Honed Bolt to punish dodge spamming and heals.

This guide is clearly made for a first time souls player. I think the dude is doing a service to newbs by informing them of the most broken weapon / skill combos people were using until it was nerfed. Do I enjoy that kind of play? No. I prefer using strong but more unique builds and armor combos. There's nothing wrong with giving some advice to new players so they might become lifelong players instead of getting wrecked by the builds he's talking about, not understanding why, and quitting the series. More players is a good thing. 👍

@@gadfli_1076 yeees, magic parry just eats magic projectiles, I've parried lightning bolts, fire balls, frenzy beam, even rocks. Only once by accident, you have to parry before they throw em, you have to be a literal god to do it consistently tho. Nigh impossible. You can't parry things like aoe or multi hit incants, or anything like honed bolt that drops from god in his heaven, at least I can't, could be skill issue Dx I haven't tested against blood flies yet, if it happens I'll let youn know. Not every incant is parryable but I haven't tested enough of them to be sure, but its definitely possible!
