A guy named Eric Gales is a blues artist who plays around L.A. alot. Gordon Payne well, of course. Hendrix is the god of blues rock guitar, and there’s no way anyone after him could’ve had even close to the impact he had. @@jhonsmith2620 Mainstream music is algorithms and science, not expression. Its music written and designed to sell so that the record companies make money. Thats why they all have virtually the exact same sound. its a scientific balance between familiar sounds that people recognize so people continue to listen to it(we like whats familiar, that's basic human instinct) and original enough that people realize they aren't listening to the exact same song. But I kid you not if you were to play 30 of those songs back to back to back without stopping it would sound like one very long repetitive song. like a club beat almost. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Its mass produced, and its largest audience is either very young and impressionable, and the primary draw for them is popularity amongs't peers, bright colors, familiar sound, and the attractiveness of the artists. These companies no longer promote unique sound or talent, because its too risky. They market artists that are going to sell stadiums because that's what rakes in the money. they cant risk promoting an artist that might be just a little bit too much on the fence of what people will like. Studios will do this rarely, if they feel like they can manipulate the sound enough to make it popular. Cue Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey, who both spiked and faded from popularity at record speed. The notion that music has been steadily declining in quality since the 90s is not a "boomer fad" or a bunch of grumbling old men who miss the old ways, even asartists from the nineties, notably Snoop, Eminem, Dr. Dre, among others, point out whats happened to their own genres, its scientifically measurable, and observable by anyone who has an ear for music and does their research. Music IS declining in quality. Everyone is allowed to like what they like, but allowed mass produced slime to be exonerated and become the acceptable norm lowers the bar across the board. Its the same mindset that allows me to buy a canvas, splash 2 buckets of paint on it, and market it as art. Somebody somewhere is going to try to follow the naked emperor and claim I've created a masterpiece.
