Thanks for the great video! I have a question about the sphalerite crystal structure. It has the same tetrahedral bond structure as diamond except it is composed of two different atoms, sulphur and zinc. However it is classified in the hexatetrahedral class -43m instead of the hexoctahedral class like diamond. Why does simply changing one atom but leaving the structure the same change the crystal class? I have made models of both and I cannot see the difference that would cause the crystal class change. Both models seem to have exactly the same planes of symmetry. Is there something I am missing?
