I think that using conical pins to align the different pieces of the top, instead of tongues and grooves, would provide alignment both vertically and horizontally.

Creating a clear epoxy resin prototype surface will provide a tools to visually verify the mechanical operation of the hardware and a testing device for production. Also, there may be a niche market for the clear tabletop…🤑

It would be far too heavy, I would think. Maybe a tiny 'slice' of a clear polycarbonate, that would allow for some observation of the mechanism (or holes/patterns cut or maybe logos?) but not give away all the secrets. I also suspect that in the final shipping product, there will be less silver parts in general. I don't honestly know, these are all guesses and estimates.
