Very direct, thank you. I had called a repair guy, as I couldn’t get the silly “permanent spring clip” off. He helped me along & told me there was a new clip with the part; sure enough, it was just caught in the valve. The clip release was way on the underside, so I turned the pump & could access the release. The repair guy was so impressed I was taking it on myself, he offered me a job. LOL Honestly, I don’t know how guys get access in some of these areas. Females hands & fingers are so much smaller.

I did this repair! I’ve done a few other appliance repairs and this wasn’t the easiest, but it was mostly related to the position you had to put yourself in. My order of the new part left out the new clamp so we bought a c-clamp at hardware store. Running the first express round and will check for leaks before we put trim pieces back! To get the old motor off, I found the clamp impossibly tight, so I did gentle wiggling and was able to get enough looseness to slide off the original clamp. Getting the control panel loose was harder than it looked bc I didn’t want to damage it. Thanks for empowering me to do this! UPDATE: Ran an express load and pulled out, NO LEAKS!

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I appreciate the added info. Word to the wise when attacking this repair yourself ... mark the three orange control wire leads into the connector on the pump and take notes! When I went to remove this connector from the defective pump, the "cover" to this connector popped off and out popped the three orange wires. They have no markings to identify which one goes to which slot in the connector. So, out of the six available combinations, I found the right one on my fifth try. On each of the previous attempts, I received an E11 error code and the heat pump did not work properly. Thanks again for the great vid!

Greetings Scott. Your video has enabled me to remove the heater/motor combo without tearing the whole machine apart! Our SHE8ER55UC/01 showed the 09 error. Now in the previous generations, that was always circuit damage from an undersized heater relay. I would replace the old 10 amp relay with a slightly larger 20 amp relay, repair the damaged copper trace on the circuit board, and be good to go. You mention in your video that the package label has the heat re part number printed on it, but I can't read it. My burnt out heater doesn't have any part numbers on it. Would you please post the heater part number for us?

The heating element fails due to poor design. It has nothing to do with water flow or filter condition. The heater element is essentially heat tape wrapped around the circumference of the stamped metal pump housing. The radial expansion of the housing streeses and breaks the heat tape near the hot / neutral conductors and makes an open circuit. Basically cheap crap. Mine just failed again.

Wow that really helped. I think I had more time in research than the actual repair. I think it was 45 minutes total time even with some little mishaps. The simplest thing of plugging the orange and black connectors in really eat my lunch. I actually had to pull the unit out after having it installed to look at why I could not get them plugged in. My advise is the black one goes in first and then the orange one last. You can actually plug the orange one in off-set and then the black one will not go in. Found that out the hard way. Thanks for posting this as it was a huge help and made this job go really well.

Dad Dancing - It was only a few screws, the outer shell of the pump is the heater and that is a press fit into the pump intake with a rubber seal, the only trouble I had was with that seal. First try it leaked a little so I took it back out and apart and used a little Vaseline on the seal. No more leak after that and its been a few months now. You might be able to solder the connector without taking the pump apart because there’s a opening in the case at the connector.

Scott, as others have noted, this was far less complicated than removing the sump. The only issue I had was tightening the clamp. I had zero visibility and ended up just screwing it as snug as I could before pushing it on..I may pay for that.
@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel

Yep, You have to do it by feel. You can run it with the dishwasher still out of the cabinet and the side panel removed and watch for leaks just to make sure that clamp is tight enough.

Thanks, great video! I have just removed the broken pump (checked the resistance with a multimeter) and waiting for the replacement to arrive home. The only doubt is why this is happened? Filter was really clean, the engine in the pump was working fine and I didn't see any problem until the E09 appeared. I hope it was the age of the dishwasher (8.5 years old) that made this possible, otherwise I am worried it can happen again soon.
@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Жыл бұрын
You’re right, it’s just age related. Bosch went with a new type of circulation pump that has a heater added to it. The wire used for the heating element is too thin and breaks causing a no Heat dishwasher.
@rens73
@rens73 Жыл бұрын
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thanks, I actually removed also the heating element inside the pump as I wanted to see where it happened. I found several burned points, I suppose one of them was the culprit and the problem was just ready to happen. Quite annoyingly it happened the 1st day of the year :D I have seen some videos that explain some ways to repair it, but it will change the resistance and I am a bit worried that can cause problems to other parts of the machine. So, I will just stick with the original plan and change the whole piece thanks to your video.

Thanks for the tuto! I don't really believe in the theory of the customer not cleaning the filter, leading to the fault. Every once in a while these dishwashers throw an error E22 to tell us to clean the filter. And you can't use it again until it's cleaned.

Really should not use dish soap, using rinse aid is a much better way to go and the edge connectors have a release on the top you should not wiggle or use a tool on the red or black wired edge connectors. you can also lay the unit in its side to not fight gravity.

Thanks for the great video. E09 error coincided with tripping the RCD circuit. £80 from Amazon for the heat pump. My six year old Siemens dishwasher was just like the one in the video except that the cover on the control unit was clipped at one end and trick to prise off. Other than that simple enough to swap the pump even for a novice like me. Better than buying a new dishwasher.

My Bosch unit displays the E09 code at the END of the cycle. Approx 10 min. to the end (2h30m cycle) but during the cycle I opened the door and the water is just lukewarm. Could it be that the element is heating but not to full 120F temp ? I thought these elements either worked or not (broken line) and thus the code would be triggered immediately as you try to run the unit. Mine turns off the code as soon as I open the door and it won't come back until running about 2h10m+. The dishes are remain dirty, as the water is not hot enough. Could it be a sensor issue ? Will the sensor issue trigger the E09 code ? Thank you

Hi, Scott. I was hoping you could clarify something you mentioned in the beginning of the video. You said, "This unit is only 2 years old, so it was probably used incorrectly." Hi Jeremy, I think this is just a poorly engineered part from Bosch. Sometimes people don’t clean the filter and it limits the amount of water going over the heating coils which can cause it to overheat prematurely.
@oneselmo
@oneselmo 3 жыл бұрын
Yes Scott, this heater is not as well designed as the previous immersion heater design. Bosch has a new part number 00705174 to replace the old 0655250, so if your replacement assembly has the old number, don't accept it. The old design is prone to failure because the heating coil is too thin to be reliable.

Good video, it helped alot. My heat pump lasted 6 years from new, I would like to know if other Bosch owners experienced longer or shorter life from their heat pump. Your video mentioned a clogged filter as a possible cause for failure. I noticed during my repair another possible reason for failure. The inlet screen was clogged with rust and sediment from the water supply. I soaked the screen in a lime and rust cleaner for five minutes and it was good as new.
