Thanks for the update, Scott! But I see a missed opportunity here... get another rain collection tank. All that rain going to waste and once you get the house ready, you’ll need as much water as you can possibly catch. I know adding a new tank is not free, but it’s an investment. All the luck, mate!

unfortunate timing, la nina, holiday shutdowns, backlogs due to weather. You have hit a snag in a perfect storm of delays. happens to all of us, but you made the best of that time, moving and cleaning up. I would personally tier that cutting and use some basic masonary (bush rock) batters to stablise the slope. spoon or swale to move surface flow water away from your slab area, and then again at the corners of the level section. Swales will still support vegetation and appear natural after time which is the ideal solution for a bush setting.

Good to see you Scott! I got to do a little painting for the guitarist of Huey Lewis, suppose he was part of the News. Really nice guy, dont remember his name, he wasnt my customer, I was just an employee at the time. He had a great place on the Mckenzie river here in Oregon. (anyone under 30 watching, that was the band Scott played)

Scott, when I left England I did it with a suitcase full of stuff and dumped the rest. If it's important you always remember it as you want to. The stuff I brought with me, only 1 T-shirt (Shakatak 1983 tour), Liverpool top (8 Heskey), and 3 dress shirts remain. The memories are in my head. Leeches are called Bling here which makes me howl with laughter when I consider the people who wear it. From my tin shed to yours, have fun and be safe!

Ah, the joys of living in the tropics, we had an incredibly wet "Wet Season" last year here in Thailand. Back when I was building my "Shouse" I went the other way around, shouse first then sheds and it just seemed that it was always wet, that is until I finally got the roof on and could finally start catching some of that rain into my one and only tank and wouldn't you guess it, never rained again for about a year. Good luck with building the shouse, been there, done that and I know what a big job it can be 👍

At the moment we're in the midst of house renovations so we can leave the big city and move to the bush (250ac) not too big but also has enough room to spread out. Not 100% off-grid, we'll have mains power and eventually a solar system. Some great tips and tricks in your videos of things I didn't think of. Definitely a series I'll be watching for updates. Shame the weather hasn't been nicer for you but aye, that's QLD tropics for ya. p.s. I love the running creek, I wish our new place had that

So happy to see you still including us for the ride! I’m curious if that land you now live on was originally inhabited by indigenous people? I don’t know my Australian indigenous history or geography well, but I’d be curious to know how long that land had been inhabited by original peoples and if there was a way to perhaps pay respect to those ancestral inhabitants while you want to break ground on your new home. It seems it would be both educational, (content-rich for us viewers), spiritually pragmatic, and a way to pick up the torch laid down by the last inhabitants that were there however many decades or centuries ago. Perhaps it would even help wit log the rain that thwarts your efforts. 🪄Keep it up Scott. Starting a new life can’t ever be easy; if it was, it wouldn’t be worth doing. 🙏🏻💕🤞🏻👍🏻

Was thinking on the weekend "I hope Scott and his missus are OK - haven't seen an update in a while". We visitied Atherton briefly last year and, while I found it a quite naturally beautiful area, I don't think could live with the heat and humidity :) We're about 5-ish years away from retirement now and will probably go south from Brisbane down to Tasmania - quite the contrast to FNQ! We'll have been 25+ years in this house by then and as an inveterate hoarder I remember how hard the throw-out stage was at the last move - definitely not looking forward to it this time. Glad to see you're both well and chipping away at your new life - best wishes.

Hey Scott , Really feel for you Mate as we have had over 800 ml for the year so far here in Tolga. We lived in a caravan inside a shed before building a house in 2021. The day we were going to pour the slab we had 11 ml in the evening and at 4am on the morning of the pour another 14 ml. Delayed the pour for a couple of hours but finally got it done. The last concrete truck dropped it’s load at 2:30 pm. Just life trying to build in the tropics at this time of the year

Hi Debra! New update coming this week end. Got a break in the weather finally and now can get a start. The Solar system is going well, I'll have to do an update on that very soon. Thanks again and all the best!

Thank you Maria! For the workshop, just the roof will have insulation. Seems to work okay.

Did you consider some serious drainage under foundation slab or like french drain around the plot as it's a digout and it's quite soft (sand I guess). Cant wait for a situation to develop!
