Love all your choices... being a teenager of the 80s and then into music in the early 90s, Madonna made a HUGE impact as did Cher straddling the gun turret..😆 at time where being gay was just starting to be more widely accepted post AIDS fear mongering. They will always have a place in my heart.. but then so did George Michael, Kylie Minogue and may others.. great to see you both back on YT..

I certainly have a list that came from the club scene (70’s / 80’s for me)… but my all time, go to, I’m gay song is, actually from an Andrew Lloyd Webber show. The song is “No Matter What” from the show “Whistle Down the Wind” and the first time I heard it was a recording by Irish Boy Band - Boyzone (and fun fact is the lead singer on the title is also gay). The key line from the song. Is “I can’t deny, what I believe, I can’t be, what I’m not, I know I’ll love forever, I know no matter what” it’s not a bouncey, dancey, anthem… but for a young gay person… the lyrics are very life affirming, and powerful in their call to simply be who you are, and live your best life… definitely worth a listen if you haven’t ever heard their version…

I did not think I was going to recognize any of your songs bc I was never into gay anthems or female pop divas at all, my jam was always alternative guitar rock. But I knew almost all of these, just from being alive and the songs being so popular. But from all of those, "Hung Up" would be the only one I really really like. Didn't know it was an ABBA sample at first but learned about it soon after the song came out. I like Madonna's song better than the Abba one though. Music is one thing I have a hard time relating to fellows gays on, I'm just not into most of it for some reason. I guess I only got the basic package haha. Thx for sharing your songs!

I loved Cher when I was super young ! But always found Madonna vulgar and hideous. I remain convinced !!! So if you read these , I wanna tell you : I designed 100s of wedding dresses and was invited to many. Best wedding ever : My bestie's small ( french ) village wedding , simple , not at all fancy , Danced all night. The French are good at special occasions, and most importantly, minimal stress , good music , lots of Champagne if you can afford it. ( or CA Sparkling wine! )
