My 2003 Toyota Yaris (Echo) has a battery management system that is very simple to reset. Just put the new battery in, turn the ignition key on without starting the car, and wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute. During that time the car computer will detect the new voltage battery and adjust accordingly.

2014 Ford Escape. I go thru a battery every 3 years. The old cars battery lasted 6-7 years. Earlier this year I installed a battery cutoff switch. Every time I shut the car off I disconnect the battery. Working good so far. When this Escape dies I'm going back to a 1980's vehicle that sits in my pole barn. I'm sick and tired of the problems and factory recalls on these newer vehicles. Eventually, I'll own nothing but vehicles 1995 and earlier.

I have an auto glass company in jacksonville florida. As far as the door glass with tempered vs laminated glass you can also look at the little stamp on the bottom edge of the glass called the BUG and it will tell you if it tempered or laminated or if it doesn't say it's tempered or if it says acoustic innerlayer then it's laminated . It cuts down on road noise mainly what they use laminated door glass for now .

Great info! I recently found that new electronic battery chargers won't sense a completely dead battery and will tell you it is bad. I replaced a battery over this, only to find later that all I had to do was introduce a 12v current to the circuit in parallel, and the old "dead" battery charged to full level.

Love scotty been watchin for years with all due respect i have wrenched for awhile for a livin not along as scott has....yet. I have seen and replaced many agm batteries and have found they do not last nearly as long as a lead acid battery one of the issues could be all the modules in newer cars but i also noticed alot of these batteries being replaced are ones that people leave their phone chargers plugged in i reccomend only plug in when driving unplug overnight i have did testing on my own and the draw is enough to discharge the battery anyway my 2 cents.for me i will unplug everytime i leave my vehicle overnight.
@leonessity

Your two cents worth of insight, just may have saved a few others beside myself, a whole lot more than that!! I have a battery booster that kills my battery if I leave it charging overnight (The battery has become weak, as of late), so now I only plug it in while my truck is running. That being said, I've had the odd morning where I've found my truck battery drained just low enough, so that it won't kick over the engine, and yet, I've never once thought it could be due to my spare phone being left charging overnight!! Thank you for your input!

I'm a former Cat mech. During that time (in the 1970s), I saw three occasions where batteries blew up due to improper jumper hook-ups. At a battery shop once, I watched a tech replace the arc-gapped terminals on a battery. The first thing he did was remove all the caps and then use a small torch in each cell. There was always a small "pop" as the hydrogen ignited. Above the work area, all the paint was peeling off the ceiling.
@leonessity
@leonessity 2 ай бұрын
A battery repair?? I know they USED to be serviceable, way, waaay back in the day, but I never would have dreamed that they'd be serviceable in any capacity, to be honest! I'm sure the tech was working on a commercial type of battery, but even so, that still sounds bizarre, given that probably 98 to 99% of batteries that the average person ever crosses paths with, will have all kinds of warning labels telling them that they are in fact 'sealed and unserviceable',,,

11:58 Some mechanics recommend to use a thicker oil if your car did about 125 000miles. (200 000kms). Can you confirm this? As they explain that the gap between piston rings are wider due to wear and tear. And thicker oil help to seal that gap. For purposes of pressure.

If you have bmw you can replace the battery with the same specs as the old battery and do not need to register the new battery to the car. Don't need any fancy scan tools to reset the battery on a Ford Fusion. Flash lights 5 times then push brake twice. Performs a BMS reset.

Another brilliant video. In this tutorial you do not go deep into technical explanation and waste our time with nonsense we can do nothing about. I knew what BMS stood for but did not know that was on my OBD computer until 5 minutes ago! Bottom line avoid German cars

As a (my) mistake, I released the positive cable first. I know that in all instructions the negative cable must be took off first. I hope tha nothing is destroyed. The car is resting in a garage during the winter.

I bought my 08 matrix about 26 months ago, and it had rolled up to 299,999. No idea what's really on it now, but only vehicle have ever owned that doesn't use oil between bi-annual oil changes, along with tire swaps for winter. Ain't changing anything else but oil and filter, air cleaners, maybe polish the headlights...

If you are going to do some welding do you have to take positive cable off battery?

I always unhook the Batt and keep my ground close to the weld area. Doing this I have never had a problem. No need to take an expensive chance.
