Me dad was a stand in bass player for odie taylor quartet....the original bass player had broken his arm...me old man ended up playing with them for a few years,in the early to mid 70s....he used to be introduced as the only coloured member of the band....because he was white, said it was some of his best years playing with, odie and johhny c...sorry cant remeber the other lads....he still plays bass(not in bands)just with other musicians on a Wednesday night.....he's 76.

Pete. Thank you for this compilation. As someone who was in his mid teens and living in Liverpool at the time of the arrival of Merseybeat I really enjoyed watching the Scouse bands again. Looking back I so enjoyed being there when it all happened.

Para esos años de los sesentas había cerca de trescientos grupos musicales en Inglaterra. La mayoría no salieron de allí. Debido a que no componían.😊

I was there. everyone that is of our age will all say they want to go back in time and relive it, there was no problems with race colour or anything, can't figure out what changed the relationship between people to the sad state it is now it's as if everyone now has a chip on their shoulder and it will only get worse, those days will never been seen again, I think that all the music nowadays is what is being called suicide music, just compare the new songs coming out and compare them to the 60's - 80's and you will see what I mean, stop the sad songs being published and things will get better, everyone will start to feel happier.

These guys were the pioneers of the mersey beat sound that many that followed became famous with. And really we owe them a debt of gratitude so thanks guys for setting the scene for those that followed.

@@kingsfleet21 the Liverpool scene took a lot of money out of London and the record companies didn’t like it so what they did was to force everything London wise and wouldn’t give recording contracts out to Liverpool bands killing off the Mersey beat scene but the Cavern survived and is still as sort sort as ever

Thank you very much indeed, very kind of you. The opening song is "I could write a book" by the Chants. The closing song is "Where in the world" by the Incrowd.

Freddie STAR was named after the other acts: Adam FAITH, Billy FURY, Marty WILDE, etc, courtesy of Lou Parnes.

After his acting career stalled, he decided to try singing and released a few singles that were produced by Joe meek. None charted but they did perform various shows, but unfortunately Freddies attitude caused big problems, and some of his pranks like urinating out of the window of the van they were travelling on, didn't go down well.. I'd heard it wasn't uncommon for him to argue with people in the crowd and the band when playing and just storm off.. So he just wasn't cut out to be a professional musician, you can understand messing about and getting drunk after a show, but showing up drunk and unrehearsed is a different matter
