The first one you showed was my first pocket knife, I carried it in grammar school in the early 70's and Boy Scouts when pocket knives were made just to cut stuff. Thank you for this video! Think I'll start collecting them now.

I’d love to find one of these new old stock especially the blue one. Because it’s bone not painted metal. The only problem I’ve come across is the coating on the outside of the knife the paint starts for come off on the ones I’ve come across. Thank goodness for sharing you with us.

I have a bunch of hooks and clips in many materials. My main keyring has a bluntforceblades ti hook that I use to hang it off my pocket everyday. Lightweight shorts it goes on the waistband. Those hangers you got the pattern is taken from a tec accessories p7 suspension clip. It's handy access outside but their best use is inside the pocket keeping the item off the bottom for better comfort. A tiny little clip like this can change your whole day.

It’s amazing how much of a difference they make in carrying a knife with a bail. Thanks Christoph!

Thanks for showing the Swiss Army 7. I'm a SAK fan but never heard of that model until today. It has most of my favorite tools. And that pruning blade looks like a great alternative to the very round SAK spear point for scoring/surface cuts. 🙂

Nice knives RJ, I like camp knives but don't like to carry thicker knives. I found that the older ones like the Fairmount sit well in the pocket. Long nail pull with a swedge on the spear point and made in the 30's. I definitely recommend it for your collection and as an EDC. I keep mine in my rotation.😊
@RJsKnives8 ай бұрын
I agree. The original camp knives are lightweight and pretty compact. The larger and thicker knives are not as much fun to carry. I will keep an eye out for the Fairmount knives. Thanks Old Phart!

Very nice looking knives, man. Not that I am particularly knowledgeable, but I bet that is one of the most mass-produced knife patterns out there, considering Boyscout/ Girlscout knives, Camp/Hiking knives, and Military branch knives. Just dropped a vid this morning with an Imperial USA 1976 GI knife. Have a great day.

Awesome! I will check it out. I agree, there’s a ton of these knives out there. Do you think you would like to be a guest on the livestream? Let me know.

I have to agree the victorinox fits in well. But it's interesting that you chose the 7/harvester, the one 93mm without lanyard accessory. The most appropriate toolset would be the pioneer and interesting again it came from the soldier which had a barrel pivot at one end for a bail😄
@RJsKnives8 ай бұрын
None of my Alox models have a key ring. Go figure! I agree, the Pioneer X that I have has the closest tool set. I chose the 7 because of the saw. I thought that was a good camp/ outdoor tool over the scissors. Thanks Christoph!
@christophwilhelm64318 ай бұрын
@@RJsKnives Oh yeah, I thought you had a pioneer in addition to the X and the 7... forgot it's a solo. That's why I said pioneer. I'll take the lanyard thing back, I didn't consider a solo wouldn't have the eyelet either... but the X not having one? I guess they vary yet vic lists them as having the eyelet and yours is very new.🤔
@RJsKnives8 ай бұрын

That rough ryder is a big boy! I wondered the same thing about the awls, there’s wear on some but why weren’t they sharper to begin with? I am curious after this video if tom or cal has any examples of a case 6445 R scout? Jigged bone and the can opener was replaced by a stout drop point with a stud and an easy open for utility cuts! Five gens from 1920 to 74.. and the 640045R/650045R with pliers. These have to be among the most awesome scout knives!
@RJsKnives8 ай бұрын
I know Tom does not, I will have to check with Calen. I think the Rough Ryder is the same as the Marbles Dave Canterbury model. People complained about the size. Except for the rounded over and unsharpened edges, the knife is fine. It’s just a big boy. Thanks Christoph!
