power supply should be fine in the enclosure - the aim of the enclosure is to keep the print at a constant ambient, so put a thermometer in it just to check what that is, but it should all be fine and its probably not getting too hot in there - if your really worried about it you could hook it up to an arduino, so that it turns on some PC fans once it exceeds a certain temperature, or turns on heaters once it goes below a certain temperature.

I want to get into 3d printing stuff like this. What printer do you use? Or do you have one that you recommend that is capable of printing these parts?
@J.watkins_014 жыл бұрын
I use the Anet A8, but it is quite loud and did need some safety features adding. I'd recommend spending a bit more on something like a creality CR10. Larger print area, better frame, higher print quality. I definitely suggest doing your own research though to find what suits you best.

Looks incredible! I’m wanting to start printing this soon and am worried about the size. Did you print it at 100% and if so, does it fit your head nicely?
@J.watkins_014 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I believe I scaled it up a tad in 'meshmixer'. I can't remember the scale I printed it at, but there are plenty of KZbin videos explain the proper way to measure your head and scaling helmets :)
@gerrysurio3 жыл бұрын
After further digging to the original designer, lot's of people is recommending to print at 105-110% because the model itself is quite snug. and it all depends on how loose you want the helmet to be
@j0k3r_583 жыл бұрын
How much infill do you recommend for this print, I’m looking into making this some time in the future
@J.watkins_013 жыл бұрын
Some of the smaller pieces I printed with as little as 15% infill to save filament, but you can pretty much print as dense as you want. Bear in mind that the print will be weaker, but you can make the walls of the print thicker to make it stronger aswell!

I'm currently doing the same project and just got done printing all 8 pieces of the 'main' helmet. the two pieces on the lower back part of the print (one of them got the vertical indentations) seem to be kinda thin in some parts. The part that is closest to your neck for example, has such a thin outer layer that i'm scared to handle it. did you encounter the same issue and what print settings did u use?

PS i have a 3D printed helmet of the Biker Scout. Ive not built it yet. I spent a lot of money for it and the the XTC- 3D coating ive never used before and afraid to. What did you use to cover the whole helmet? I noticed you used car putty to fill seem lines. I tried sending a part but find it's tough to do so. I had no idea about this before i bought it. I also have two weapons E-11 Blaster and the DLT-19 Rifle Blaster. I'm in the same predicament with those and the seller i bought these from has vanished from eBay. On another note thats an excellent job on that Scout helmet.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
@J.watkins_012 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’ve never personally used any kind of 3D print coating, but for a few of the helmets I got on well using spray filler primer. It’s basically a thick layer of spray paint that is a bit chalky and sandable to get rid of print lines. It gives a good coat to spray paint onto aswell. But it won’t fill large gaps like joint lines unfortunately.
@George-pp2hr2 ай бұрын
@@J.watkins_01 thanks for that. Yes when I bought the helmet I didn't know I had to spend extra AU $100.00 for this resin like coating. Apparently it makes the sanding easier and gives smooth finish. It's a two part you mix and pour on to a flat foil hand made tray that gives the XTC about 14 minutes before it dries up. I'll have to try and find that spray you used. I hope it's available here in Australia..👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
