I sure couldn't! Man was I surprised... But since seeing you use your lathes, I have been do my research looking at all these diferent ones.. and well my wife seen it since we share amazon account and wouldn't you know it... she got me one for Christmas.. I'm tickled as a puppy with 2 peters, I tell ya... Lots to learn though... but it should be fun... you make it look fun, so i hope it is... :-) Kudos to the Prince of NJ. That wrench came out great in the end, I wouldn't have thought of using Aluminium for the rivet but it looks right and as you say isn't really needing to secure the handle itself ! Love the satin finish against the blued parts. Thanks to Magdad for his input, but the pressure is on him now for when he restores his wrench, I'm sure he'll come up trumps too and go about it in a different and interesting way ! Hoping you're feeling better soon, Happy New year and thanks for all your output this year , there's a reason this is such a great community !

Thanks for tip on Tool Scouter. He does some nice work on his videos and you put him over 1K subscribers. Good going. Very helpful tips on this video. On the Mein Mekaniker channel, that guy would end up machining a whole new dynamic jaw and filling in the crease with weld and basically remanufacturing the whole tool to a ridiculous precise standard. It would end up being so beautiful that you’d never want to use the damn thing for fear of ruining your hard work. That’s why I prefer this style of restoration. It’s within the means of the average guy without needing welding and machining skills and the best part is, you end up with a fully functional and attractive tool that you have forever.

Today's project for me was I put up a bird feeder against the window sill and I used a branch off my apple tree as a perch. Hoping to see the cardinals during the winter. I saw a squirrel run off with a frozen softball size clump of basmati rice today. The other day I saw him haul up such a large piece of a baguette that he had to rest several times before he could bring it up to his nest.

I figured the end was just peened to fill up the gap. Nice work John. Glad you backed off on the hardened punch. Friend of mine drove a shard from a hardened pin into his arm. Entered at his wrist and went halfway to his elbow. Beautiful job on squaring the jaw. Now that you have done it knocking the handle off a Pexto looks easier than fitting wooden scales on a Perfect Handle wrench.

FYI i used to machine a lot of aluminum to make aluminum pistons for big natural gas compressors in the oil field. Aluminum pistons varied in size from 8-10” to 20” in diameter. We used WD-40 as a cutting fluid on aluminum. Works great, you get a better finish and it cuts without any tearing or galling.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Just a thought, perhaps there is a way you could use your 1-2-3 blocks to set that up with the back of it in a machinist vise to square it up on your milling machine. That way it would be square across the whole face of the jaw?
@ScoutCrafter2 жыл бұрын
The jaws are hardened so my small milling machine just wouldn’t be able to machine them. That’s where the big mills and carbide cutters come in handy! 😃👍

Great video 👍I seen your video on the Pexto adjustable wrench 🔧 yesterday and couldn’t comment because I knew you had already went trough them. I seen it yesterday also because the Arctic 🥶 blast knocked out our 📱cell towers until yesterday and we didn’t have no cellular or internet service. But if I could have commented I would have said keep going with the Dake. I didn’t see in your video anything that could have been blocking that handle from coming off,especially when you used your feeler gauges to run down the sides of the handle and nothing was Interfering with the handle. I thought I may have seen a burr where you drilled out the rivet in the handle that may have kept the handle from coming off the 1st time. I could see why you were concerned about using that punch to press the handle off. It was a good idea 💡 to use a hardened bolt to apply that amount of pressure to remove the handle. I remember you using that method on Lineman pliers and it worked out great 👍. Also shout out to 357 Magdad for his video on the subject of the wrench 🔧 👍to maybe give you the confidence to help you get that project done ✅. What a cool dude 👍! Also when your under the weather 🤢 🤒 we are never on our game. I hope that you will feel better soon. But that adjustable wrench you done turned out Fantastic! Great idea on how to repair the jaws of a wrench 🔧 when they are pinching . I liked the bluing you also done to the wrench, it looks better than when it was new . Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Friday. You have a great evening and again hope you feel better.😃👍👍

The wrench looks and operates beautifully and since it will not likely see any heavy use, the aluminum pin is fine. But when that wrench is loaded, the lower jaw will be pushed towards the handle and the steel pin was there to resist the force from pushing the handle off the body of the wrench.
@ScoutCrafter2 жыл бұрын
The shear force required to break a 5/16” 6060 Aluminum pin would probably need a cheater bar for a wrench this short. This handle was used on wrenches twice the length. 😃👍
