I wish we had sale like this where I live in the South, perhaps one of your viewers can clue me in on sales in or around East Tennessee. What we do have are several “Longest Yard Sales.” The Highway 127 Sale is about to start next week. It runs from Gadsden, Alabama to Michigan. Another coming sale is the Highway 411 sale in the Fall. Earlier in the year we had the Highway 11 sale, that runs right by my house. Lots of tools, and pretty much anything you can think of.

Hi John, I’ve been very busy so haven’t commented lately. Your hairy eyeball pooch still makes me laugh. I’m now at the point where I’m anticipating when the pooch will show up. My Aunts house is pretty close to Zag’s farm. There is a fast food stand nearby. Great hot dogs and Ice Cream. Can’t remember the name but it’s not so far from the Colchester green. Nice rehab of your 50 cent pliers. Best Regards, John

I bought those Craftsman Lineman's pliers new, back in the day. They were the first high leverage design I ever used. They're still in my pouch, and they just helped install a water heater at my daughter's house. High leverage and the design of the grips make them very comfortable to use.

One of my first metal detector finds was a WW2 style where the wood was gone and the metal was frozen in the open position. I replaced the handle and still use it when I metal detect on the beach. Good haul. Those black and gold handles gave it away that it's a Craftsman. Those Stanley hammers were sold relabled by alot of companies for many years. Like you I really like the old entrenching tools. I never paint them but when got stuffed in a spot and forgotten for a year. I coeted the blades with rust converter and left them black for now. Handles stripped of paint, then oiled. When it's dry, then comes a couple of coats of shellac followed by wax. No blisters will well up from heat abbrasions using those. Looking forward to seeing how you treat that one.

I thought ScoutCrafter finally found his Model T (maybe you said you’re looking for a Model A). Plus I don’t think you have a garage in Queens otherwise we would’ve seen it. Maybe when you get around to cleaning up that beautiful file you can do a bit of a file review. What do you use to coat them with to prevent rust? Do you use a different coating for wood files and metal files and how to tell the difference? And finally, if you could explain the significance of the different colored tangs on files. Thanks John Kevin C
