In the intro you show a chalkboard/easel. Being the baby of eight one of my older brothers brought home a chalkboard easel he found in the alley. One of my older sisters taught me the alphabet and numbers and how to spell and do arithmetic. I was about 3 or 4. I believe it really helped me. A very good find from “the poor man’s flea market”. Most of those mini fridges that can run on 12 volts is a Peltier cooler. What you hear running is the circulating fan. Sadly, they are not very efficient. They are made from piezoelectric chips (made of the crystals) that absorbs heat on one side (cold side) and radiate heat off the other side. If you add heat to the chips, they generate electricity! These are used in those fans placed on top of wood stove/ heaters to circulate air/ heat. And yes, the same crystals that produce a spark when struck in the grills starters and stick lighters... Lastly, the crystals are used in gyros to keep aircraft straight & level... As well as the motion sensors in our smartphones! I think crickets are cool too. Fun fact most of the time when people hear crickets outside at night and more so in movies - Are frogs! Another useless bit of information for those mechanical timers. When trying to synchronize 2 or 3 to come on at the same time: Time the difference from when the 1st comes on and the 2nd comes on with a stopwatch. Then unplug the 1st unit for that same amount of time and plug it back in. They will be within a second or two and repeat if needed. Great for christmas lights... Nice cover you made on that timer!

I remember back in the early 80’s, the first time I took apart the headset of my old Schwinn BMX bike and seeing all of those ball bearings. They were a wonder to me. I loved cleaning it all out and re-lubricating them. It was like I had unlocked the secrets of the universe. That only prepared me for taking apart the sealed bearing of a skateboard wheel. I have the same courtesy all these years later. It’s why I love your channel so much. Keep up the great work and thank you for putting that rip-stick back into service and out of the landfill.

Great video 👍 That Poor Man’s Flea Market is Gold. The RipStik skateboard 🛹 turned out fantastic. That 50/50 made that board 🛹 look like N.O.S. Those boards can be expensive depends on the one you choose,but maybe some kid can enjoy it now instead of being in the landfill 👍. What a cool little drink 🥤cooler and it works What...? 😮👍👍 that is awesome ! What a fantastic fix for the cover on the timer ⏱. I thought you was going to get that metal Tonka crane 🏗🚜 , some of the new ones are just made of mostly plastic, but I think the drink 🥤 cooler was a awesome find and the skateboard 🛹👍. Our father installed some lampposts along our driveway and used a heavier duty version of that timer in the late fifties. The synchronous motor for the timer mechanism lasted nearly forty years, never stopping unless there was a power outage. The plug in type are just as reliable; which is nice because it seems in your neighborhood there is no shortage of quality items to choose from in the PMFM. Wonderful stuff!

What a nice surprise on that timer as I've the exact model. The dial decal is just a bit different but the same HB31R. I've had it about 15 years now and have mostly used it as an inside timed light switch when I'm out of town using a lamp or two. One time I know I had it plugged in for at least a couple, three years running non stop. I've also used it to time grow lights with indoor plants. This summer I had two box fans in the chicken coop that ran during the heat of the day. Still going strong and never exposed to the elements. Always wondered if it would crap out but after hearing you, I'm not worried.

What a great haul from the P.M. flea market. That Coke cooler was really unique and in top condition. I particularly liked the timer cover you rigged up. That plexiglass really comes in handy for your projects (like the Howdy Doody case). Those pin timers are really reliable. I've used one for years for the x-mas tree lights and the exterior ones. Ohh man I want that Coke fridge😢. The best way I have found to work with acrylic is to make a wooden buck, or in this case a block of wood, then sit acrylic on the block and heat them in an oven. Once the acrylic is hot enough it will almost fold it’s self over the block. I don’t have much luck using a heat gun either but your finished cover looked great. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺

@@ScoutCrafter Yeah I got the relationship between the colour of the product and the character I'm just fascinated that they pay to use a cartoon character at all. It's not their own generic character they must be paying a licence fee to use it. It's not exactly a product marketed at kids is it? Usually companies will pay to licence a character like that so kids will pester their parents to buy the one with the character on the packaging.
@melkc345 Жыл бұрын
Actually, the Pink Panther was born of the opening and closing segments of the Pink Panther movies (most with Peter Sellers). @matthewhopkins666 Жыл бұрын
@@melkc345 They adopted the panther mascot 17 years after the first movie came out and I would hardly describe those movies as geared toward adults.
