Why I’d want the antler: As a simple reminder.....A reminder of all of the ways your insight has changed my hunting. A reminder to think differently and always stay positive. A reminder that good things do not come easy, and eventually hard work does pay off. A reminder to never give up. This lil antler would always stay in my pack so I had the Dan wisdom with me on every hunt and scouting trip, guiding me properly to make the right decisions. The dual signatures would remind me to appreciate those times shared with great hunting buddies, either family or friends .....you guys are great, honestly your methods/tips/suggestions have changed the way I hunt, also how and when I scout. I’ve learned so much from what you guys have shared in all of the videos you’ve made (I think I’ve seen them all) For all of that....I thank you

I have to admit, your rarely wrong when it comes to one with a nice rack on his head. I appreciate you being real and true to hunting. Keep it up man! Beaver's will make those cuts in the banks of stream adjacent to alders. See it all the time at my Uncle's farm. See it all the time on my property further North. Not saying the deer won't use them, but if there's no deer tracks in 'em, they're definitely made by beavers.

Do you guys believe there are thermal hubs in this type of country? I'm hunting an area like this and think that several small dry creeks that are just a bit lower than the rest of the flat land, coming together, might actually be a thermal hub. That subject is new to me, and I'm trying to figure out how to approach it. I believe some big deer are catching my wind in there, as I hunt just outside of it. I've never had my wind blow directly in it, but I think it's possible the cross winds and dropping thermals sometimes end up in there as bucks pass through it on their way out for the evenings. Thoughts anyone?
@thehuntingbeast Жыл бұрын
Quite possible that you found a spot with funky thermals. Terrain shape, water, etc... can all play havoc with thermals and wind currents. But a thermal hub from my definition is a deep ravine usually in hill country with draws coming in from several directions.

pretty cool video here. In North Mississippi we have a ton of lowlands such as this and its refreshing to see that big bucks do utilize those areas. My question here would be what if these low areas have been flooded all summer long? Will the deer utilize this area the same way once water level has dropped or find elsewhere to bed?
@thehuntingbeast3 жыл бұрын
They still bed in those low once flooded areas, but generally its tougher than the spots where they can use the same beds year after year without wash out.

That water was spring fed and moving, not sure how it will react in dead calm, depends on water temp. I think swirls in the huntable opening may be a bigger issue.
