I was issued the molle when I was in the army. I had the alice for a little while but anyway. What I did was put both wet weather tops and bottoms in one sustainment pouch, the poncho and poncho liner in the other. The E tool carrier can go on the front as well. And you can add more sustainment pouches to the side for whatever reason.
@ronstryker11 жыл бұрын
I like my large rucksack as well but I added three more sustainment pouches, two on the back and one more on the flap to store more stuff kinda like the ALICE pockets. My only complaint is that when I stuff my complete EWCS sleep system, it starts getting a bit heavy and its a tight fit in the lower compartment. For the canteen cup stove I prefer the stove from the Canteen Shop and a Heavy Cover lid and your canteen cup turns into a small cooking pot.

If you will change your frame to where the inner curve is facing inward toward your spine and the outer portion is facing away you will notice a much more comfortable wearing experience.

Good shit!Looks like the Army is going back to the old style ALICE large rucksack which made sense with MOLLE atttacments plus sleeping bag compartment.I remember guys ending their ALICE large packs to Tactical Tailor and having this modification back in the 90s.The CFP 90 was a real POS because it was more designed for a back packing trip in Europe in the summer,it sucked as far was being balanced.The 10th Mountain buddies told me about it and used it a couple of times on FTX back then.Yep they were right.The new MOLLE stuff i had in Iraq was put in the vehicle,but first and foremost was my assault pack which you can stash a poncho liner,small British Merlin sleeping bag the size of a football,MREs,ammo,and water,ficken fantasic for combat.This pack is great for camping or back packing.

If you look a little closer the Sleep System does have 2 zipper's in them. I could see the 2nd. zipper on yours in the lower left (from where I'm looking) check it out. I've got the MOLLIE ll BP also and love it after I lowered the shoulder pads where they should be and worked on the Belt system also. Its the Best Back Pack out there I think.

I don't know about the rest of these people...but when I click a video with the words bug out bag? I'm not looking to hike or camp for recreation purposes. The pouches are for ammo, the webbing is for blades and a shovel, and it doesn't go anywhere without the ICS and MSS.

I really appreciate this video! You did a really good job explaining places to buy and specs - I intend to go fishing and pack in 3-4 days at a time - I am not sure about a tent or hammock system but I started searching ebay every day for about 10 days - found a new one (ex Gi -never used) for 40 bux - plus 18 bux shipping - no one else bided so I thought that was fair - 60 bux with 2 sustainment pouches - I really like your idea of canteens - Imma set mine up with a hatchet etc for a 3 day trip - water filtration of some kind - just wanted to say thanks!

Scott. I just bought the rucksack, assult pack,and fannypack. I don't know how to attach them all together. You? Maybe a video on that. And also, I got the 5 piece MSS. Do I put the MSS in its location without it being in the compression sack? Thanks for any help.
@ScoutPrepper10 жыл бұрын
The assault pack should just strap to the front of the big pack. Fanny pack can go in several places, but I kind of like running mine on the straps on top of the assault pack. On the MSS, definitely use the stuff sack. It's the easiest way to carry the mss in my opinion. :)

Hey Scout, I'm a new sub. I enjoyed your vid on the Molle II Ruck. I just received two of them from my brother in law along with two sleep system. It was donated to them. One of the pack is in perfect condition the other looks newer than the other but the soldier that was using it somehow burned part of the flap. I need to get some kind of patch to sew over it. In your vid, you showed a pouch where you where you store your canteen with the stove attachment. Where about did you purchase that set? Excited to see all of your vids. Thanks!

Hey I really appreciate the sub! I got that canteen set with the pouch and the stove on ebay, and I have bought a couple in military surplus stores. I think I searched for USGI canteen set or canteen system on ebay.

I own this pack but when I look online I can't find a reliable listing of the specs. One listing says the main compartment without sustainment pouches is 4,000 cubic inches and each sustainment pouch is 500 cubic inches a piece making the pack 5,000 total if u add the two pouches. But other web pages say the main compartment is 5,000 and with both pouches its 6,000 total. And other pages list different. The molle rucksack seems big but it's a few liters less then the ilbe unless ur using all the pouches possible. The ilbe main compartment is 75 liters. They add the lid space separate. The lid is 7 liters making the ilbe 82liters. The assault pack is 27 liters which makes the total ilbe 109 liters. And the assault pack actually fits amazingly on the pack. The molle rucksack can get huge but the basic parts only make it an average military size. But I just don't know the correct molle rucksack size.
@cthulhu66976 ай бұрын
I have this ruck and you're right about various sources listing various specs. Actual specs are : The main ruck is 4000 cubic inches ( which is 65 or 67 liters, something like that ) capacity, with each sustainment pouch being 500 cubic inches each, which is where I think a lot of people get confused on the 5000 cubic inch thing. The newer Marine FILBE has a 5000 cubic inch main ruck. I set my large MOLLE 2 up with the 2 sustainment pouches on the sides ( as intended ) with a 200 round SAW gunner pouch MOLLEd under each side sutsinment pouch. I added 2 more sustainment pouches on the front main field of MOLLE, as that seems the most efficient use of the space and they help carry my cold and wet weather gear. Lid flap MOLLE carries my entrenching tool and pouch. Are you sure about the ILBE having a 75 liter main ruck ( before adding pouches )? I thought it was 90. Anyway, they both carry more than I realistically can and both are great rucks. I always use surplus, as military gear is superior and more long-lasting, rugged and durable than most civilian rucks. The civilian tactical rucks that are as good or better than military rucks, and often used by military personell, are generally in the $500 + neighborhood. Too rich for my blood, especially when you can get 2 surplus rucks and still have money to spare for gear and ammo for that much

Joe Moening Well that's a tough decision. I've reviewed the molle 2, ilbe, filbe and alice packs and it's really hard to make a decision. All have good and bad features. I really like the FILBE pack but it's also hard to beat the Kelty Eagle 128 (have a video on it also) if you want a big pack. I have my son geared up in the Molle 2 right now and he loves it. Thanks for the positive feedback and glad that you liked the video.
