*Description:*
SCP-008 is a complex prion that is highly infectious and lethal. It is transmitted through bodily fluids, including blood, saliva, and semen. SCP-008 does not appear to be airborne or waterborne.
The incubation period for SCP-008 is approximately three hours. Once infected, the victim will begin to experience flu-like symptoms, including fever, headache, and muscle aches. Within 20 hours of infection, the victim will develop severe dementia and will eventually lapse into a coma.
The coma will last for approximately 12 hours, after which the victim will die. However, the body of the victim will not decompose. Instead, it will undergo a period of sporadic cellular necrosis, with the surviving tissue becoming highly resilient. The red blood cells inside the victim's body will also greatly increase their oxygen storage capacity, resulting in slower blood flow and increased muscle endurance and strength.
The victim will then reanimate as a hostile entity. These entities are referred to as SCP-008-1. SCP-008-1 are driven by a single-minded desire to spread SCP-008. They are highly aggressive and will attack any living creature they encounter.
SCP-008-1 are not sentient, but they do retain some of the memories of the person they were before they were infected. They are also capable of learning and adapting.
There is currently no known cure for SCP-008. However, SCP-500 has been shown to be effective in preventing the onset of SCP-008 in individuals who have been exposed to the prion.

On ██/██/19██, a containment breach occurred at G2 Site-12. SCP-008-1 entities were able to escape from the site and spread SCP-008 to the surrounding area. The outbreak was eventually contained, but not before over ████ people were infected.

In 20██, the SCP Foundation was able to obtain a sample of SCP-008 from an alternate universe. This sample was found to be inert, suggesting that SCP-008 is not native to our universe.
