This is oddly accurate to what I experienced before I was diagnosed with anxiety. I remember being afraid of windows, mirrors, doorways, darkness, behind curtains, places underneath such as benches and beds, etc. It worsened to such a degree that I was huddled in a fetal position in the corner of a room crying. I always thought there was something behind me; I could *feel* it. I’d be constantly turning around to see what I imagined to be there. Apparently, when I explained this to my therapist, she was suspecting anxiety. Soon after, that’s what I was diagnosed with, however, she did mention something about hyper-vigilance, and noted that I was experiencing traits of it. I thought all of this was paranoia, but, in reality, since it was coupled with other traits, it could not be paranoia-my therapist explained. This SCP hits close to home… maybe too much so…

One of the secrets I held in the deepest shame and secrecy was that I was afraid of the dark. Afraid of the dark exactly the way a five-year-old is afraid of the dark: there is something BAD lurking there in the dark, that intends to do something BAD to me. Also, I couldn't look out of windows at night, no matter how well-lit the room was. The same for mirrors. It wasn't until I went into therapy to deal with a very severe issue that several other things which had dogged my life for decades suddenly cleared up, including my fear of the dark.

We're all adults here...

@@Washeek The trauma I suffered was emotional abuse in childhood (not by my parents - by a sibling, ignored by parents who pretended it was "sibling rivalry"). I washed out of the Navy because in 1981 they didn't recognize PTSD in someone who was arriving fresh from training and not from the battlefront. Unfortunately, I had a pathological terror of therapy, having a childish belief that it would turn me into a different person, rather than empower me to finally express my real self without the dysfunctional armor I had built up to defend myself as a child and had outgrown.

Could you please explain what this SCP entity is, does, and why? The best summary I can give is there are bad things in the dark….and that’s about it.
@josuediaz32403 ай бұрын
@@Talon19 Valid question! Best way I can explain it is to approach it with the following framework: “What if the feeling that your being watched, that you’re not alone in the dark (even when you know you should be), was not irrational?”. So this SCP proposes that there are entities that exist beyond the rules of our dimension that prey on those who are in the circumstances that usually make people feel paranoid (being alone, in the dark, surrounded by potential hiding spots that you can’t keep track of, etc). These entities are, by design, impossible to understand, because any attempt to do so results in them taking you, usually killing you in the process, and wiping almost all memory of you from the world. Therefore no one will investigate your disappearance, and 3010 remains a secret. In the exploration logs, and the note the D class left on the file using what i presume is a foundation computer he found in the alternate reality, we find out that the 3010 entities are numerous, and live in a dimension that links to every reflective surface in our world. Essentially, they can watch us from anywhere, and since there are so many, they are ALWAYS watching. Once again, due to the nature of their attacks, we can never really know why. So TLDR, the author wants to scare you, lol. When you’re in your house at night, alone, and you get the feeling that someone might be in the darkness at the end of the hallway, or when you’re afraid to look in the mirror cause you have the feeling that someone is behind you, the author wants you to think about this SCP. They want you to think “yes, there is something there, and it wants to cause me harm.” They want you to know that there are many, many, many of them, they are always watching, and we will never know why. Because if you try to find out, they will kill you in a manner too gruesome to describe, and no one will even remember your existence.

@@Talon19 Valid question! Best way I can explain it is to approach it with the following framework: “What if the feeling that your being watched, that you’re not alone in the dark (even when you know you should be), was not irrational?”. So this SCP proposes that there are entities that exist in a different dimension that prey on those who are in the circumstances that usually make people feel paranoid (being alone, in the dark, surrounded by potential hiding spots that you can’t keep track of, etc). These entities are, by design, impossible to understand, because any attempt to do so results in them taking you, usually killing you, and then wiping almost all memory of you from reality. That way no one who knew you would suspect that something happened. Based on the exploration log and the note left by the D-class, there is an uncountable amount of these entities, one for every one of us, and their dimension has a portal into every mirror in our world. So they are always watching, and can get to us anytime, anywhere. TLDR, the author wants to scare you, lol. Whenever you’re alone and you think something is in the darkness at the end of the hallway, or you’re too afraid to look in the mirror cause something might be behind you, the author wants you to think about this SCP. They want you to think “there IS something there, and it means me harm”. They want you to know that it is impossible to escape these entities. They want you to know that these entities are impossible to understand, because any attempt to do so will lead to a gruesome death, and no one will even remember you existed. Hope this helps!

Oh thank goodness… you basically have to live in a mansion. 500 square meters = 5381.955 square feet. I currently live in a 4/3 with a two car garage in America and it’s only 2700 square feet… so like most houses in the world are safe?

I feel this way in my parents' house. It's full of dark corners to hide around, big spaces with plenty of cover, a fuck ton of windows, a mirror in the living room...damn, is it in my parents' house? 😱
