Story forgot the fact that everyone is given amnestics after such an event, no exceptions. This kid would NOT have memories of 106, and he would not have gotten away from being treated. Still, the old man is the best menacing SCP. The old man is something that, other than the teleportation and dimensional aspects, is very much grounded in reality. There were, and still are, some really messed up individuals who would hunt down, torment, and kill people for absolutely zero justifiable reason, and that's what makes the old man so unsettling. That guy peeking through your window right now could be 106, and you would never know.

Ive been in multiple school lockdowns and shelter in places as well as bomb threats and that's only at school and ignoring other times outside of school so I partially understand the terror they must have faced even though I'll never completely understand. I heard the shots, I heard the screams, I heard it all, I heard from other students that an armed robber from a local shopping mall had come to try and hide but didn't actually enter the school, I knew it all. I wasn't afraid though as I was used to it (Hence why I said "ignoring other times outside of school"), I was used to hearing gunshots and screams, I was used to seeing blood and all types of things that I almost garuntee a majority of the school hasn't even come close to whitnessing. It was startling and my main focus during these times was keeping everyone else calm including my teacher who was visibly shaking as well as guiding them through safety protocols. I had a family at home but they were to far away for me to evacuate the school or be picked up as I was a regional student with a magnet program so my main ficus after calming the class was to contact my family and let them know I was alright so they wouldn't worry as well as to gain more possible information to share with my classmates to ease their minds (Of course if that information was horrible then I just wouldn't tell them.)We were in a brand new school with new staff and faculty so safety protocols were not yet ironed out for the school yet and as a result (as well as for legal reasons) we were not told many things such as where the person was, what happened, or even if they were armed of not, they didn't even give us general information that is not detailed that could be life saving so my classmates were definetely scared and I was scared for them. later on in one of the lockdowns an announcement came on on the PA system to the whole school building stating and I quote "will the students still in the hallways on the 4th floor please make their way to a classroom and follow standard lockdown procedures", now I was in a classrom on the 1rst floor (Floors were numbered 0-4) and I was on an outer classroom on a branch of the school that was away from the rest of the building due to the layout of the gym so this didn't affect me but I was still enraged and I recall thinking to myself that she (the lady who announced it) wanted those students to get caught or even killed and that even if it was used as a scare tactic to make them listen they shouldn't have done that when so little information was given (this was also later on in the lockdown so they most likely had nowhere to go anyways). Believe me when I say that lady was severely repremanded even though she wasn't fired. After that lockdown I discovered that since so little information was given, students started physically fighting their teachers and breaking out of the classrooms to walk the school or leave and the principal just stated that if students want to risk their lives then you can't stop them but rather let them know that you will not be letting them back inside and they will be on their own if they decide to leave. I understand that infighting during a time of panic is common and teachers can only deal with so much but this seemed to be inviting students to just risk their lives like it was nothing while to others it terrified them for various reasons such as being left to die or if a student decides to leave the intruder could enter the classrom as they leave cornering them. Now I know you either think im lying or exaggerating things but to be honest considering everything that happened through only ONE of these events, I reall have no reason to lie and if anything I'm not as exxagerative as I probably should be due to my lack of panic personally. Oh yeah, and I should mention a local school had a school shooting by a kid with a phantom gun (a gun that was made at home presumably by 3-D printing) and that kid is still hospitalized while the students were forced to be locked inside the school with an active shooter and the staff member reporting it to the police only said to come to the school with the sirens off, not that there was a shooter so he was also punished severely. This shooting wasn't at my school but I thought I should mention it to let you know that this is not just an issue at my school, underprepared staff seems to be a terrible theme in my county and horrible displays of violence at schools, a theme of my country. It doesn't make it right but I don't blame them too much, they were panicked and I was a bit biased as I wasn't so I was thinking straight and for the safety of others in place of my own.

I'm so glad I wasn't in school in the US, I never had to experience shooting drills. It must be terrifying. The only rare drills we had in France were about fire safety and we actually liked these because we had to get out ^^ Though it did scare me in kindergarten haha
