I triumphed handily over the Scrabble engine HastyBot in my 100-game Mack vs. Machine series, but that was in a long time control. Can I repeat the same feat in blitz?
Introducing a 250-game marathon blitz battle against HastyBot, consisting of 50 5-game episodes every Friday at 5pm ET! Each episode will feature five games of increasingly fast time controls, one at each of 5/4/3/2/1 minutes, along with some post-game analysis. Hope you guys enjoy, and wish me luck!

fwiw: Up to you, course, you're making the content, but seems reasonable and think your audience would understand if you announced that for 2- and 1-minute time controls, you won't be doing commentary cuz ... you need time to think. Little loss of engagement, sure, but given the strictures of time, don't reckon most peeps would mind. Can allus tell folks what you're thinking in real time in the post-mortem. Just a thought.

Adding: hastybot's not constrained in making plays while also required to simultaneously emcee of the event. Puts you atta big disadvantage, my impression. Could allus try "Mack-off-the-hook-n-unchained" and see how it goes? Might matter, might not. Not tryn'ta tell you your bidness, just a suggestion to mull.

And last: wanted to say, really enjoy the series. Appreciate the humility shown in going for it. Reminds me of the era when computers were first introduced in chess, and peeps wanted to find out how well a fallible human could perform against a (theoretically) unfallible computer, whose play just got better'n'better. Distinction being, tho: Chess is a game of perfect information. Luck is notta factor. The reason, to me, scrabble is accessible and evergreen is cuz the words are all known (or can be) and agreed to, but the element of chance (as with poker) is a tremendous equalizer, making it possible for someone like Nigel to "only" win 75% of his games. So am a bit more sanguine about your chances against a computer than those of humans against a computer in chess (which is a ship that has already sailt). Which is why I root for you, John Henry. Good luck.

Almost seems like a disadvantage to draw the blanks in these quick games because it's so hard not to spend the time thinking when you have a blank

I cannot imagine trying to play progressively shorter and shorter blitz/bullet games hahaha I feel like I would not be able to adjust my amount of thinking time like that. Rough session but you’re still a beast Mack!!

Mack, what do you think anout playing your 1 min games without commentary and dubbing over it after? I think the first 10 seconds of this bullet game are an example of where it may have helped!
