I guess the original toys were aimed at kids and had a lower retail price which was reflected in their lack of sophistication. The toys these days are for the most part aimed at collectors who are willing to spend much more which is reflected in the more advanced product.

Totally agree with you, I would love to have $$$ to spend on the newer near-perfect toys. But I still have some original (up to gen 3 I believe) somewhere at my parent's home

To keep it real i always love the stunticons on the cartoons but far i am concern when hasbro brung out the toy action figures it was so lame and horrible and on the cartoons that was menasor but toy thats not menasor now the cars and the 18 wheeler look ok and they should have made them full scale size like Optimus prime and the auto bots and maybe they just would have been fine
