People, people, people, learn to use the center cleat, it'll make docking so much easier. It's only common sense.

In the end it all comes down to leverage, literally, and so many of these people seem unaware of the existence of leverage. By using the centre cleat the leverage of the bow cancels out that of the stern, and vice versa.

Why is it I never see anyone using docking poles?. We used them all the time, made things much easier and safer.

I assume you're referring to a boat hook; many people think they're a bad thing, like if you need it it's only because you suck at docking. Some people overly rely on them, maybe that's why they get a bad rap. I rarely needed it, but I carried one on most of my boats. If conditions made me think there was a chance of needing it I'd get it ready before making my approach.

Does no one know how to just ease a boat gently on to the dock . A gentle throttle there, a little turn of the wheel here. Then a little reverse and turn the wheel into the dock, put your hand out and grab the dock.

For those of us that do understand the physics behind docking a boat. These videos are painful to watch.
