I went to my local Rebuild site www.rebuildsit... and found a triangular shaped piece of 18mm (just under 3/4 inch) low grade construction plywood. I salvaged 5 squares 230mm wide (just over 9 inches).
I have made a couple of plywood bowls before, but this was a real challenge especially given how soft the material was.
Thank you very much for watching.

*If you shop through these links, I may receive a small commission. The price is the same for you, but it helps support me as a beginner woodturner in my quest to get a better lathe to make even bigger projects, and I really appreciate it!
Note this is NOT an instructional video, or designed for any education purposes, it is simply my own personal steps on my wood turning journey.

I’ve made a few bowls from plywood. It looks great and most people are very surprised how interesting plywood looks. I glue solid wood to the top and bottom of the blank because plywood doesn’t always come out looking very good especially on the rim and bottom of the bowl.

Its hard to imagine that plywood not wanting to chip apart all the time. But you managed to make it, very sharp tools. An easy touch would be my guess ? Nice work.

I realy thought you'd need to pretty much cover the thing in CA glue to keep it together and get rid of the chip out. VERY NICE RESULTS!!!! I'm impressed.

How fast were you turning?

@@michaelross8794 around 800 rpm, probably a little higher on a larger bowl.

@@RDMWoodturninglove all this, learning so much. I can get a steady supply of scrap laminated plywood. I wonder how that would look.

I like the way the plywoods together form the rings in the design. It’s pretty and interesting looking. I know it’s not expensive or rare wood, but to me it makes a pretty bowl. ❤

I have my own laser engraver, so I custom make the discs myself. I looked into buying them from Etsy, but in the long run it worked out more cost effective to make them myself. Thanks
