2-5-2021: Just a tip to share with anyone who uses magnets in their mini-album projects. I use Grip-Rite Tin Cap Disks, which are sheet metal circles. They are 2-3/4" wide and very thin. I don't always need them that large when working on a specific area of a mini-album, so I cut the size piece I need. (Scissors will cut it like butter!) So, with a metal piece on one side and a magnet on the other, they work great once they connect. I get a box of these at Home Depot direct, not on-line, for less than $4 and, I believe approximately 50 or so comes in the box. It'll definitely save any crafter on magnets! On another note, I learned a lot watching your tutorial, very informative. I especially love the flush magnet technique; hadn't seen that demonstrated before so I can’t wait to incorporate it into my project. I have an idea of how to use your flush magnet technique with the metal. Thank you for sharing, this was great!

The thing is that those tin metal are not magnetic. That means that if you use only 1 side with a magnet and another side without you cut in half the magnetization which makes it not enough, I tried it and is not sufficient for power. :-/ Flush magnet, you mean when they are positioned inside the chipboard?

@@andredemers69 a slightly bigger magnet might be strong enough but would be cheaper than two smaller ones perhaps. I've also cut pieces of metal from tin cans as long as they are made of steel, of course. Many are made of aluminium. Best to hammer them flat on a metal surface as they tend to curl from cutting and raise a shartp edge.

Thanks for the information. I could never figure out how to tell the thickness. Now that I know, I can order what I need. TFS

Thanks! Recently I've ordered the bulk magnets, 1mm X 8mm is great too! ;-)

Thank you so much! This was very helpful. What size and strength of magnet would you recommend for thin lightweight wooden magnet? And which glue to use to stick the magnet to the wood?

Thanks! I don't work wood that much so hard for me to say! :-/ I would probably go with 1cm diameter (3/8") and I always use the 1mm (1/32") thickness for my paper project (with chipboard as well). I use double face tape (scortape) because I cover them with paper but not sure it would stay on if you don't cover them. ;-) Dominique
