I love it when you guys step outside your comfort zone and build cars you don't have experience with! Takes guts to dive in to something new. Next, you should build a '03-'07 Chevy standard cab, short bed pickup into a LS-A/6-speed track/race truck. Use it to tow the Porsche (or other car.) to the track, then race them both!
@alukaszewski Жыл бұрын
Absolutely do not dent the bottom of the sump, the oil pickup tube sits just mm's above it in the recess. You WILL need the 1999 intercooler ducting - finding them may prove difficult though! The glass roof is commonly referred to as a "Moon roof" - and the complete undamaged winding assembly with plastics and no missing handle will fetch some good money. Good luck, will keep watching!

The 98/99 VR4's had a bunch of different stuff on them. The ducting and the passenger intercooler were different from the previous years. In the rare chance you're able to get stock IC ducts for a 99, it should bolt right up to that 95 intercooler that you already have though.

I had a 1992 Dodge Stealth RT in the early 1990s and it was a great little car. It had flip up headlights (which frankly I prefer) and a 5 speed manual. I sold it in 1997 and got more than I paid for it after I put over 80,000 miles on it. Make sure that the timing belt, the idlers, the tensioner and the water pump are all in good shape, that engine is a valve bender if the timing belt fails for any reason.... Great upload and good luck with it !! You'll have no trouble selling it when you are done with it.

FYi, when picking one up that has been sitting Gas tank service - drop flush dip and new paint, Sending unit do not remove line from tank unit, the line removal is under the car 2ft from the tank and you will need to heat it up alot and use a lot of WD40 to remove it next , injector service and replace the air flow meter - also the ECU's go bad on these cars and will start misfiring when you go 25% of throttle and go with a Jester ECU replacement or if lucky find a used working one. once you get this car all done and finished you will like it, the 93 VR4 I sold was the lowest mile 1 owner in the US market. As for the parts pulled off you plan to sell good luck with that. :)

That color IS super rare on that car and highly underrated. Looks cool. I'd see about sending off the second set of seats that didn't have a transmission sitting on them to a shop to get redone in leather. At least, if you're planning on driving it a lot, I'd get that done.
@willvr4 Жыл бұрын
It is rare, but I think it's by far the worst color of the 99's. Might bring a higher value though for resale.
@mndlessdrwer Жыл бұрын
@@willvr4 Up to personal preference, I think. It's fine if you aren't a fan. They came in a bunch of other colors that might suit your preferences more. I also think they look great in red, white, and black. With several options for each. Though Bright Blue Pearl is the only blue worth considering if you want it in blue. The thing I can really respect Mitsubishi for is opting to only offer white in a pearl instead of a flat tone paint. Pearl white is highly underrated.

This is a dream car for me. Fond memories of endless hours of Gran Turismo growing up. Unfortunately it will always just be a dream as they are getting rarer and more expensive. I would never be able to afford to do it to the level of perfection that I expect and it would probably take me my entire lifetime to finish it. I'm very meticulous on how I do things besides I have too many projects as it is. They tend to be a little more practical and affordable.

Great video and an interesting project that I'm looking forward to following to completion. One note, I would hesitate to use the oil coolers or any part of the external lubrication system of an car that blew the motor. I'm not familiar with the oiling system on the 3000GT, so this may not be an issue for you, but - years ago - I knew a fellow who git a 911 RSR "cheap" after it passed through the hands of several owners in succession who destroyed a series of motors. The new owner also set about an engine rebuild and discovered that the oil coolers hadn't been flushed or replaced and were harboring a lot of fine metallic debris from one or more of the ruined motors. The metallic junk probably went back to the first blown flat six, and subsequently passed through all the later motors causing the demise of each.

I imagine that 2nd gear in that car is probably scratchy if its hasn't been rebuilt. be a good time to do that right now with everything out of the car. And you get to see what clutch it has in it. You can also get an upgraded output shaft for that won't let go when you give it more power.

Wow a nearly extinct Unicorn! These were produced during Mitsubishi’s lofty years and were so hot that Dodge had to have their own version! They were an engineering tour de force, but a maintenance nightmare! These exotics fell victim to abuse and neglect and became junkyard fodder. Poor oiling and overworked turbos caused early bearing failures, not to mention the many catastrophically failed heads due to timing belt neglect. Also, engine suffered from too much stagnant heat retention post operation from tight packaging of high heat components (recommend 5-10 minute cooldown idle time to allow for a gradual temp normalization). To mitigate these things from happening to this unicorn, I’de: 1) double check the timing belt is pristine (in situ replacement of belts is a brutal task), tensioner pulley bearing is well greased (see KZbin for “sealed bearing hack”), and ensure water-pump is turning freely; 2) replace spark plugs with Iridium plugs (cheapest upgrade with remarkable gains in longevity and performance of the engine); 3) teflon treat the oil (Slick50, etc.) to prolong life of bearings and rings; 4) change diff oil with Royal Purple; 5)wrap turbos in high-heat jackets (DEI thermo jackets are great product for this). A little extra up-front garners bigger returns on the back and more smiles-per-miles!
