28:30 you need to divide the object into child/ parent objects using bearings or pistons. the buoyancy force is placed on the center of the object instead of the edges. the game is setup this way to reduce lag and calculation points. if you separate them using bearings/ pistons they're calculated separately.

Yes. tried to separate the buble blocks ingame and it spun forever. Not very fast. but it did spin, edit: by separate I mean ading a bearing between bubleblock and frame
@pularis16298 ай бұрын
Also he didn’t put it fully in the water. When it’s flat, you can see part of bubble block poking out. Therefore, when spun, it’s not properly submerged.

actually i think the reason that it doesn't work is the game checks if the creation is water, and if so, it does the buoyancy maths on the whole creation. but i do agree with the rest of what you said.

16:00 since the pistons are at a 45 deg angle, the actual vertical height of the piston ends up being 15/√ ͞2≈10.61 blocks. If you consider the length of the extension (min length is 1, so 14 blocks), you get 14/√ ͞2 =7√ ͞2≈9.90 blocks, which is even closer to 10 blocks. By being creative and attempting to stray from the path,you have ironically ended up following the path in the mathematically optimal way.

@ThePhonax8 ай бұрын
This is incorrect. The game calculates buoyancy by shapes. A shape is anything singular from the parts category or really anything you can place, or stretches of block that are the same material and color. This is why if you have a 16x16 square of wood, the buoyancy will be calculated at the center of that and it will be able to rotate any direction, but as soon as you put one block of a different material on each corner, or paint each corner block of wood a different color, the square will self stabilize in the water. Just a lil SM physics lesson for y’all

The buoyancy-powered wheel should also theoretically work in real-life based on my current knowledge of physics. The basic waterwheel uses practically the same principles. The problems come in somehow containing the water AND allowing the wheel to go in and out of it. Also, since less dense things float, the force it would create wouldn't be much. I'd love for someone to correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Something wrong about this gatling gun. A gatling gun only shoots one bullet at a time. Usually it's only the barrel on the top middle position. Because it rotates, the reload process can be faster, so that increases the rate of fire, not the bullet count each time you shoot.

29:19 Maybe the calculations for buoyancy are done for the whole creation/part that is in the water? When you pulled blocks off, that's what made sense to me. The part you pulled off was no longer trying to calculate for buoyancy, and so the most buoyant part was the side with more blocks? Interesting concept though.

“Jupiter” was the Central Pacific Railroad locomotive present at Golden Spike Driving for the First Transcontinental Railroad Ceremony on May 10, 1869 at Promontory Summit in Utah, USA. It has sadly long since been scrapped. It’s sister locomotive was sold to the Nevada Northern and became #1, with only the original handrails now still existing… but are to become part of an all new replica locomotive built from the ground up. A replica of the Jupiter runs yearly at Promontory, built by the same guy who built the Disneyland locomotives and is modeled from the Virginia & Truckee’s “Inyo” locomotive, which runs at the Carson City, NV museum. In Las Vegas where you live Scrapman (and where I grew up) you have the Eureka & Palisade #4 “Eureka”, which is a narrow gauge (3’ wide track) version of the 4-4-0 like the Jupiter. Union Pacific was represented by the 119 at Promontory, which was also long since scrapped. But again, a replica now runs there.

This would actually work in real life, the problem is not the system, it's the premise: having a wall of water that just ends and is air on the other side. That's not possible obviously, the water would flow to the right and cause the water level to be perendicular to gravity, at which point it wouldn't be perpetual motion machine anymore.

The first build and ScrapMan completely missed the point of a gatling gun :D In real life, a gun barrel heats up due to the friction of the bullets, which means that each gun barrel needs a little time to cool down in-between each shot. To maintain a high firerate, while giving each barrel some time to cool down, they are arranged circularly and spinning around a central axis. However only the "top" barrel is actually shooting. Otherwise you wouldnt give them time to cool down AND wouldnt hit where you are aiming most of the time. The same idea applies in scrap mechanic since each spud-gun has a cooldown inbetween shooting. The spinning is not just done, because it looks cool ;P

fairly sure SM physics applies boyancy to a whole chunk : if part of the wheel is in the water, all the wheel has boyancy. so if you separate the wheel into bits (i.e. put bearings everywhere to make the blocks into distinct parts of the wheel), it will only apply boyancy to the part of the wheel that's in the water, and allow you to violate physics
