What about a bathtub with a explosive spawner in a frictionless course race challenge? Would the explosive provide some sort of propulsion for the vehicle?

Make a transformation race: Hovercraft race with bombs on the ground, Car checkpoint race, Airplane Obstacle Gate Race. Or make a no bearing race with a 30 min time limit Or an only thrusters race ( the vehicle is only made out of thrusters) Or make a beyblade race.

Maybe use challenge mode to make a key-based series of challenges. Challenges could include build a key-turning vehicle, build your own "key" for a see through lock (easy), sequential keys in a maze, perhaps even a crane-like challenge with colored keys lined up on the floor and a series of colored keyholes in the wall that need to be turned in a sequence discovered earlier, walking through a key-making factory and changing the settings to make the needed key(s), a combination of vehicle based key handling with foot based puzzling.

Your rotation bearing needs to be centered with the key's shaft. Just the bearing, up one or two blocks on the key housing.
